    Passage 1(2021·
A joint research team recently have developed a new electronic skin that is similar to human skin in strength, durability(耐久性) and sensitivity. The skin or e-skin may play an important role in next-generation personalized medicine, soft robotics and artificial intelligence.
“The ideal e-skin will mimic(模仿) the many natural functions of human skin, such as sensing temperature and touch, accurately and in real time,” says leading researcher Yichen Cai. However, making suitably flexible electronics that can perform such delicate tasks while also used repeatedly is challenging, and each material involved must be carefully engineered.
Most e-skins are made by putting an active sensor on the surface that attaches to human skin. However, the connection between them is often too weak, which reduces the durability and sensitivity of the material; otherwise, if it is too strong, it won’t be flexible enough, making it more likely to break the circuit.
“The landscape of skin electronics keeps shifting at a remarkable pace,” says Cai. “The discovery of 2D sensors has accelerated efforts to turn these quite thin but strong materials into functional, durable artificial skins.”
The new man-made skin built by the researchers could sense objects from 20 centimeters away. It could further make a quick response when touched in less than one tenth of a second. “ It is a striking achievement for an e-skin to maintain toughness after repeated use,” said Shen, “which mimics the softness and rapid recovery of human skin.”
This type of e-skin could monitor a range of biological information, such as changes in blood pressure, which can be detected from movements of arms and legs. This data can then be shared and stored on the cloud via Wi-Fi.
“One remaining problem to the widespread use of e-skins lies in mass production of high-resolution sensors,” adds group leader Vincent Tung “ however, the latest technology offers new promise. ”
1.What’s the feature of the new e-skin?
A.It can store information. B.It’s quite hard and tough.
C.It’s flexible and sensitive. D.It can replace human skin.
2.Why does the author mention “most e-skins” in paragraph 3?
A.To stress the challenges of making e-skins. B.To introduce the popularity of e-skins.
C.To show the process of making e-skins. D.To compare the similarity between e-skins.
3.What can the new e-skin do?
A.Adjust the blood pressure. B.Recover the wounded skin.
C.Work as a remote controller. D.Sense the outside temperature.
4.What is the best title for the text?
    A.A Breakthrough in Hi-tech B.Man-made Skin, Improved
    C.E-skin, A Promising Business D.The Widespread Use of E-skin

根据第一段“A joint research team recently have developed a new electronic skin that is similar to human skin in strength, durability and sensitivity.(一个联合研究小组最近开发了一种新的电子皮肤,它在强度、耐用性和敏感性方面与人类皮肤相似)”以及第五段““It is a striking achievement for an e-skin to maintain toughness after repeated use,” said Shen, “which mimics the softness and rapid recovery of human skin.””(“电子皮肤在反复使用后保持韧性是一个惊人的成就,”沈说,“它模仿了人类皮肤的柔软和快速恢复(能力)。”)
根据第一段“Most e-skins are made by putting an active sensor on the surface that attaches to human skin. However, the connection between them is often too weak, which reduces the durability and sensitivity of the material; otherwise, if it is too strong, it won’t be flexible enough, making it more likely to break the circuit. 故选A项。
第二段“The ideal e-skin will mimic the many natural functions of human skin, such as sensing temperature and touch, accurately and in real time (理想的电子皮肤将模拟人体皮肤的许多自然功能,如准确实时地感知温度和触觉。)可知,新电子皮肤模拟人体皮肤的许多自然功能,如准确实时地感知温度和触觉。故选D项。
4.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段“A joint research team recently have developed a new electronic skin that is similar to human skin in strength, durability and sensitivity.(一个联合研究小组最近开发了一种新的电子皮肤,它在强度、耐用性和敏感性方面与人类皮肤相似)”可知,新的电子皮肤,它在强度、耐用性和敏感性方面与人类皮肤相似,在新技术的支持下,有希望大量生产。
If you visit Uluwatu temple in Bali, be cautious. The long-tailed temple monkeys there are well-known thieves. Since a long time ago, they have made a living by robbing visitors of their possessions and then holding those objects until a ransom in the form of food is paid. But Jean-Baptiste Leca of the University of Lethbridge, in Canada, wondered whether these monkeys are cleverer still. Sometimes, they do not accept the first offer and hold out for more. He therefore asked himself whether they are able to assess how valuable an object is to its owner, and factor that into their negotiations.
Dr. Leca and his colleagues conducted their experiment by wandering around the temple with video cameras, recording the activities of the monkeys. Every time they saw a monkey show interest in a particular tourist? they recorded the interaction. To work out what was going on, they had first to establish the relative values of food rewards to monkeys, and of stealable objects to people.
To confirm which stealable objects are most valued by people, they divided them into six classes: empty containers, such as phone cases and plastic bottles; accessories (搭配物) such as hairpins and key rings; hats and shoes; spectacles and sunglasses; and electronics and wallets. They then observed how often victims bothered to bargain with the thief for the return of property belonging to different classes, and thus classified objects into low value, medium value and high value.
They found that monkeys do, indeed, have a complicated sense of what they are doing — at least, adults and sub-adults do. These animals have a preference for stealing high-value items, and will often hold out either for more rewards, or for better ones, if they are in possession of such items. But this is something that they have to learn how to do as they grow up. Young monkeys make no such distinctions, and sub-adults are less good at doing so than adults.
5.What is the purpose of Leca's research?
A.To prove monkeys are cleverer than men. B.To find out what is valuable for monkeys.
C.To record the negotiations between monkeys. D.To make sure monkeys can judge item values.
6.What does the underlined word "ransom" in Paragraph 1 mean?
    A.Bilk. B.Reward. C.Tax. D.Rent.
7.How are the values of objects classified in Paragraph 3?
A.By the material of objects. B.By the preference of victims.
C.By the buying price of objects, D.By the frequency of bargaining.
8.What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.Young monkeys can evaluate items. B.All monkeys prefer high-value items,
C.Monkeys have a simple sense of acts. D.Monkeys' stealing is an acquired skill.

根据文章第一段“But Jean-Baptiste Leca of the University of Lethbridge, in Canada, wondered whether these monkeys are cleverer still. Sometimes, they do not accept the first offer and hold out for more. He therefore asked himself whether they are able to assess how valuable an object is to its owner, and factor that into their negotiations.(但是加拿大Lethbridge大学的Jean-Baptiste Leca怀疑这些猴子是否更聪明。有时,它们不接受第一个报价而坚持要更多。因此,他问自己,它们是否能够评估一件物品对其拥有者的价值,并将这一因素纳入谈判)”可知,Leca研究的目的是想了解猴子是否学会了评估物品对其拥有者的价值从而提出更多的要求。故选D项。
6.词句猜测题。根据文章第一段“Since a long time ago, they have made a living by robbing visitors of their possessions and then holding those objects until a ransom in the form of food is paid.(从很久以前开始,它们就以抢劫访客的财产为生,然后拿着这些物品直到以食物的形式的ransom)”可知,提问题ransom前提及“猴子们以抢劫游客的财产为生”。
根据文章倒数第二段“To confirm which steal able objects are most valued by people, they divided them into six classes: empty containers, such as phone cases and plastic bottles; accessories (搭配物) such as hairpins and key rings; hats and shoes; spectacles and sunglasses; and electronics and wallets. They then observed how often victims bothered to bargain with the thief for the return of property belonging to different classes, and thus classified objects into low value, medium value and high value.(为了确定人们最看重的失窃物品是什么,他们将这些物品分为六类:空容器,如手机壳和塑料瓶;发夹、钥匙圈等配件;帽子和鞋子;眼镜和太阳镜;电子产品和钱包。然后,他们观察受害者为了归还属于不同类别的财产而与猴子讨价还价的频率,从而将物品分为低价值、中价值和高价值)”可知,研究者通过讨价还价的频率来分类物品的价值。故选D项。
8.推理判断题。根据最后一段“They found that monkeys do, indeed, have a complicated sense of what they are doing — at least, adults and sub-adults do. These animals have a preference for stealing high-value items, and will often hold out either for more rewards, or for better ones, if they are in possession of such items. But this is something that they have to learn how to do as they grow up. Young monkeys make no such distinctions, and sub-adults are less good at doing so than adults.(他们发现,猴子确实对自己在做什么有复杂的认识。至少,成年猴和亚成年猴都可以。这些动物偏爱偷走高价值的物品,如果拥有这些物品,它们往往会争取更多的奖励或更好的奖励。但这是它们长大后必须学习的方法。幼猴没有这种区别,次成年猴则不如成年猴)”可知,猴子的偷窃行为是后天习得的技能。因为幼猴不会这种偷窃行为,而次成年候的偷窃能力不如成年候。故选D项。
    Passage 3(2021·山东济南市·高三开学考试)
Sugar cane(甘蔗)contains around 10% sugar. But that means it contains around 90% non-sugar—the material known as bagasse (甘蔗渣)which remains once the sugar-bearing juice is squeezed out. World production of cane sugar was 185 million tonnes in 2017 , which results in a lot of bagasse.
At the moment, most of it is burned. But Zhu Hongli, a mechanical engineer at Northeastern University, in Boston, thinks it can be put into better use. As she, and her colleagues describe, in Matter this week, with a bit of improving bagasse makes an excellent and biodegradable (可生 物降解的)replacement for the plastic used for disposable food containers such as coffee cups.
Dr. Zhu is not the first person to have this idea. But previous attempts tended not to survive contact with liquids. She knew from previous research that the main reason why past efforts fell to pieces when wet is that bagasse is composed of short fibres which are unable to hold the finished product. She therefore sought' to insert a suitably long-fibred substance.
Bamboo seemed to be the best choice. It grows quickly /degrades readily and has appropriately long fibres. And it worked. When the researchers blended bamboo remaining into bagasse, they found that the result had a strong crossing of short and long fibres.
To put their new material through its paces, Dr. Zhu and her colleagues first poured hot oil onto it and found that, rather than passing through the material, as it would have with previous, bagasse products, the oil was resisted by their invention.
They also found that when they made a cup out of the stuff and filled it with water heated almost to boiling point, the cup remained unbroken for more than two hours. Though this is not as long as a plastic cup would Hast, it-is long enough for all practical purposes.
9.What do we know about bagasse?
A.It is widely used. B.It is usually wasted.
C.It can not be degraded. D.It takes up 10% of sugar cane.
10.Why do the previous attempts fail?
A.The cups are not disposable. B.The fibres of bagasse are short.
C.The plastic can not be replaced. D.The material is not biodegradable.
11.What is special about Zhu's invention?
A.It can let oil pass through. B.It can be boiled in the water.
C.It can hold liquid and resist heat. D.It can reduce the use of bamboo.
12.What would be the best title for the text?
A.New Bamboo Containers B.A New Application of Fibres
C.Young and Promising Materials D.A Perfect Mix of Cane and Bamboo

根据文章第二段第一句“At the moment, most of it is burned. ”(目前,大部分的甘蔗渣都被烧毁了。)可知,甘蔗渣大部分被浪费掉了。故选B项。
10.细节理解题。根据文章第三段以三句“She knew from previous research that the main reason why past efforts fell to pieces when wet is that bagasse is composed of short fibres which are unable to hold the finished product. ”(她从以前的研究中了解到,过去的努力失败的主要原因是甘蔗渣是由短纤维组成的,无法承载成品。)可知,以前的试验失败是由于蔗渣的纤维很短。故选B项。
11.细节理解题。根据文章最后一段第二句“They also found that when they made a cup out of the stuff and filled it with water heated almost to boiling point, the cup remained unbroken for more than two hours.
A team from Northwestern University has developed a soft, skin-interfaced sensor that can analyze the molecular (分子的) composition of sweat for things like cortisol, blood sugar, and vitamin C, sending the data to the wearer's smartphone. This data, the researchers hope, will allow people to better control their stress levels throughout the day.
Cortisol, also called the stress hormone, can be measured in a person's sweat. Released from the adrenal glands (肾上腺) under periods of physical and mental stress, it can be a powerful performance enhancer—increasing energy production and glucose (葡萄糖) availability for the muscles during a "fight or flight" situation, for instance being attacked by a lion. However, cortisol can also be released because of modern stressors such as money problems, issues at work, and other day-to-day worries that if built up over time, create the chronic anxiety and can lead to an increased risk for diabetes, depression, high blood pressure and obesity.
When someone wears the chip sweats, the liquid runs through small channels into a series of chemical test sensors that look for different biological signals which could suggest a rise in cortisol.
Previous attempts in years past at creating devices like this were limited by the need to take sweat samples to laboratories for analysis, removing any ability for the individual to act on the data in a way that might prevent buildup of stressful feelings, or even an anxiety attack.
Such a device could be paramount in helping people relieve depressive or stressful feelings (not least because exercising hard enough to cause sweating helps with anxiety on its own).
Furthermore, the percent of the population of American adults with regular feelings of worry, nervousness, or anxiety is around 11.2%, while there are nearly 60 million doctors' visits where mental or behavioral health is the chief concern. Putting power into patients' hands—in the form of a detailed diagnosis of cortisol levels, could help significantly to lower those numbers.
13.What's the function of the newly developed sensor?
A.To examine the component of sweat. B.To show when one lacks vitamin.
C.To connect wearable devices to smartphones. D.To control people's stress levels the whole day.
14.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A.What may create the profile of chronic anxiety. B.What may cause the release of the stress hormone.
C.How cortisol can enhance one's energy production. D.How cortisol can be measured in a person's sweat.
15.Which of the following can replace the underlined word?
    A.Significant. B.Useless.
    C.Accessible. D.Weak.
16.Where is this text most likely from?
    A.A product review. B.A guidebook.
    C.A magazine. D.A science fiction.

    Passage 5 (2021·
Across the globe, we've developed a coffee addiction, and we've become addicted to single-use cups: 600 billion disposable cups are produced and sold annually. But there's a growing push to cut this down.
Here's the problem with disposable coffee cups: The thin, waxy, plastic coating inside makes it tricky to recycle or compost them. So, they most go into a landfill More than that, it takes a lot of energy and resources to make them. Starbucks and McDonald's are trying to develop a disposable coffee cup that can be both recyclable and compostable. But that's easier said than done. The coffee giants have been dangling a million dollars to anybody who can crack the code.
The Rolling Stones are also thinking about the sustainable cups. If you see the Stones in concert this summer and go to get a drink, there may be no single-use plastic cup for you. The bands approached Michael Martin, who has produced a bunch of big Earth Day concerts, asking for help to eliminate plastic waste. He came up with a simple solution.
"When you come up to get your first beverage(饮料), you put down a $3 deposit, you get a really high-quality Rolling Stones-branded cup," says Martin. "You use it throughout the night, and at the end of the event you can turn your cup in and get your $3 back or you can keep your cup." If you return the heavier plastic cup at the end of the show, it gets washed and used again. Or recycled.
But this idea — returning and reusing a cup — this is not that complicated. So why is this just being tried now? "That's a really good question," says Martin. "In America, we're a throwaway society, and so we're hoping we'll be able to wake people up and change things." He's starting with rock concerts because artists have a pretty powerful platform. I mean, if Mick Jagger tells his fans to stop abusing the planet, who's going to say no to that?
17.Why is there a growing push to cut single-use cups down?
A.Because too many people are coffee addicts.
B.Because disposable cups are hard to recycle and compost.
C.Because it takes a lot of energy and resources to recycle them.
D.Because Starbucks and McDonald's are dangling a million dollars.
18.What does the underlined phrase "crack the code" in Paragraph 2 mean?
    A.develop a cup. B.set up a recycling company.
C.find the password. D.tackle the problem.
19.What can we infer from Martin's solution?
A.People will wash the cups at the end of the show.
B.People hand in the cup and get 3-dollar reward.
C.People can own the cup by paying 3 dollars.
D.People must pay 3 dollars and return the cup.
20.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.Artists have a great impact. B.Martin is giving a rock concert.
C.Mick Jagger' fans are abusing the planet. D.Mick Jagger' fans never disagree with him.
根据第二段“Here's the problem with disposable coffee cups: The thin, waxy, plastic coating inside makes it tricky to recycle or compost them.(一次性咖啡杯有一个问题:里面薄薄的蜡状塑料涂层让回收或堆肥变得很棘手)”可知,一次性咖啡杯很难被回收和堆肥,因此越来越多的人要求减少其使用。故选B项。
根据划线短语所在句“The coffee giants have been dangling a million dollars to anybody who can crack the code.(咖啡巨头出资一百万美元,奖励能 crack the code的人)”和上文“Starbucks and McDonald's are trying to develop a disposable coffee cup that can be both recyclable and compostable. But that's easier said than done.(星巴克和麦当劳正在尝试开发一种既可回收又可堆肥的一次性咖啡杯。但说起来容易做起来难)”可知,要研发出环保的咖啡杯是不容易的事,因此咖啡巨头通过奖励来找人解决这一问题,可以推断“crack the code”意为解决这一问题,D项“tackle the problem”意为“解决问题”。故选D项。
19.推理判断题。根据第四段“You use it throughout the night, and at the end of the event you can turn your cup in and get your $3 back or you can keep your cup.(你可以整夜使用它,在活动结束时,你可以把你的杯子交上来拿回你的3美元,或者你可以保留你的杯子)”可知,Martin的解决办法是人们可以付3美元拥有这种杯子。故选C项。
根据最后一段“He's starting with rock concerts because artists have a pretty powerful platform.(他从摇滚音乐会开始,因为艺术家们有一个非常强大的平台)”可知,艺术家有很大的影响和号召力。故选A项。
    Passage 6(2021·
Motion picture, also called film or movie, series of sill photographs on film, projected in rapid succession onto a screen by means of light. This new art form became one of the most popular and influential media of the 20th century and beyond. In early twentieth-century France, a new form of entertainment was becoming a hit—motion pictures. People crowded into theatres for short, silent, black-and-white films that showed everyday happenings, such as a train pulling into a station. These images were dimly projected onto white sheets. Usually, there was no sound. Occasionally, men at pianos played music to match the scenes.
Later, with the introduction of colour and sound, the silent film soon disappeared. Colour and sound introduced a new world into the cinema and steadily grew more effective. It can be used to produce a powerful dramatic impression. Moving images at theatres are now no longer novel, but back at the beginning of the art form, surprises lurked around every corner. During the initial showings of basic silent movies, some people in the audience screamed in fear, reacting to what they saw as if it were happening in real life. Moviegoers were known to even leap out of their seats due to the trains on the screen. At that time, few people understood what motion pictures were, so audience members could easily be fooled.
Today, people crowd into theatres for the latest 3D movies. Even older movies, such as the popular Star Wars series, are being re-released in 3D.Moviemakers are excited about the ability to involve the audience more directly in the story or film. In addition, theatres invest tens of thousands of dollars on high-quality audio systems so that everything from the safest whispers to the largest explosions sounds clear and realistic. Sound, dialogue, and music are used in combination not only with one another but also with the visual image. They can overlap and vary in intensity in a flexible and complex pattern with those high-quality audio systems.
What will movies be like 100 years from now? Will audience be able to smell scents in the films, taste the food that characters are eating, or even become part of the stories themselves? Only time will tell.
21.What can we know about the motion pictures in early 20th century France?
A.They were in color. B.They were the main form of entertainment.
C.They greatly appealed to people then. D.They often had background music.
22.Why did the moviegoers leap out of their seats?
A.Because the movies were too scary. B.Because they didn't see trains in real life.
C.Because the old theaters were too crowded. D.Because audiences were unfamiliar with the movies.
23.Why do theatres spend a lot on high-quality audio systems?
    A.To re-release more old movies. B.To develop movie-making technologies.
C.To improve movie-goers' experience. D.To make the explosions safe.
24.What's the author's purpose in writing the text?
A.To explain how realistic movies are today. B.To tell something about future movie plans.
C.To introduce the history of movie technology. D.To compare movie theatres over the last century.
由第一段中的“In early twentieth-century France, a new form of entertainment was becoming a hit—motion pictures. People crowded into theatres for short, silent, black-and-white films that showed everyday happenings, such as a train pulling into a station.”(20世纪初,法国一种新的娱乐形式正成为一种热门——电影。
由第二段中的“During the initial showings of basic silent movies, some people in the audience screamed in fear, reacting to what they saw as if it were happening in real life. Moviegoers were known to even leap out of their seats due to the trains on the screen. At that time, few people understood what motion pictures were, so audience members could easily be fooled.”(在最初放映无声电影的时候,观众中的一些人吓得尖叫起来,对他们所看到的一切做出反应,就好像这一切发生在现实生活中一样。
由第三段中的“Moviemakers are excited about the ability to involve the audience more directly in the story or film. In addition, theatres invest tens of thousands of dollars on high-quality audio systems so that everything from the safest whispers to the largest explosions sounds clear and realistic.”(甚至是一些老电影,比如《星球大战》系列电影也在3D中重新上映,电影制作人对能够更直接地让观众参与到故事或电影中感到兴奋。
Bats have long been one of the most feared creatures in the animal kingdom. Many pop culture associations with them are related to vampire (吸血鬼) men tempting women in order to suck their blood or witches putting evil curses on innocent individuals.
Although these associations are complete misunderstandings, bats do have a dark side as a dangerous disease carrier. These flying mammals can carry a number of deadly diseases such as rabies (狂犬病) and more recently Ebola. This has led many to wonder why we should even care about them.
Sure, there is good reason to be exceptionally cautious if you come into contact with bats. However, there is no denying the fact that bats play a significant role in keeping a balanced ecosystem.
Many organic farmers have learned about the benefits of having bats nearby to help manage the pests that show up without pesticides (杀虫剂). One brown bat—about the size of a human thumb can consume about 600 mosquitoes and other unwanted insects within an hour. They make for a fantastic, almost essential, addition to pest management on any farm.
Even large government organizations have realized the economic benefits of bats. The United States Geological Survey estimates that bat contributions to pest management save the country at least 3.7 billion dollars per year. Without them, we would likely experience a sharp drop in food production, which would eventually make its way into our weekly grocery bills.
As if this were not enough of an ecosystem service we receive, bats are also of great importance to a variety of plant species that are preferential to its pollination (传粉). Otherwise these plants would decrease their ability to reproduce by at least 50 percent.
A number of plant products consumed by humans fall into this preferential pollination category. Some popular foods include mangoes, bananas, peaches and guavas. Additionally, the agave (龙舌兰) plant, which is used to make tequila (龙舌兰酒), is completely dependent on bat pollinators for reproduction.
Bats are major contributors to our society. They are in the best interest of the international community to protect and even to promote. Amid significant fears housed by the general public, the fact is that we need them more than most of us imagine.
25.Why should we be cautious when we contact bats?
A.They carry diseases. B.They are aggressive.
C.They bring bad luck. D.They stay in the dark.
    26.What are Paragraph 4, 5, 6 and 7 mainly about?
A.Our care about bats can never be too much. B.Farming is simply impossible without bats.
C.Mosquitoes are a big threat to farming. D.Bats make unusual contributions to us.
27.Who are the target readers of the passage?
A.The pop culture lovers. B.The general public.
    C.The mass farmers. D.The environmentalists.
28.What can be a suitable title for the passage?
A.Bats Are Totally Harmful B.Creatures Do Wonders
C.Protection Is Under Way D.We Humans Need Bats

分析第四段到第七段内容,结合第三段关键句“However, there is no denying the fact that bats play a significant role in keeping a balanced ecosystem.”(然而,不可否认的事实是,蝙蝠在保持生态系统平衡方面发挥着重要作用。) “Bats make unusual contributions to us.”
分析文章,结合最后一段内容“Bats are major contributors to our society. They are in the best interest of the international community to protect and even to promote. Amid significant fears housed by the general public, the fact is that we need them more than most of us imagine.”(蝙蝠是我们社会的主要贡献者。
分析文章内容,结合最后一段内容“Bats are major contributors to our society. They are in the best interest of the international community to protect and even to promote. Amid significant fears housed by the general public, the fact is that we need them more than most of us imagine.”(蝙蝠是我们社会的主要贡献者。

For years, Hainan, China's southernmost island province, has been an attractive tourist destination for people around the world because of its pleasant environment. Beginning this year, the beautiful island will have a new identity — an open and distinctive free trade port.
The Hainan Free Trade Port will serve as a special functional economic area and its level of openness will be better than any other port in the world. Products and funds from abroad will have free access to the port, and most goods will be duty-free. The decision shows China's willingness to further open up to the world.
The province of Hainan was founded in 1988. Later it became an appointed special economic (SEZ) to attract foreign investment. In the following years, a series of similar initiatives have been implemented for Hainan's continuous development, including a pilot zone for free trade founded in 2018.
Apart from an attractive landscape, Hainan's industrial structure features tourism and modem services. In addition, as a free trade zone and port at provincial level, Hainan has a satisfying scale and full experience. All these advantages will enable Hainan to become a global trade center.
From SEZ to free trade pilot zone, and now today's free trade port, Hainan's development and its determination to build an open economy are evident to all. It's hoped that it will seize the chance of free trade and attract more business and experienced professionals from around the world to come to the island.
    29.What's Hainan's future plan?

C.Its development of IT industry. D.Its distinctive service industry.
32.What is the best title for the passage?
    A.Hainan: A Push for Global Economy B.Hainan: A Witness to China's Opening-Up
C.Hainan: An Island Full of Ups and Downs D.Hainan: An Unforgettable Tourist Destination

根据第四段的“Apart from an attractive landscape, Hainan's industrial structure features tourism and modem services. Not only will they become the highlights of the free trade port, but also they are in line with the rapid trade growth in global services as well as the development of many ports toward the service sector.(除了有吸引力的景观外,海南的产业结构还以旅游业和现代服务业为特色。它们不仅将成为自由贸易港的亮点,而且符合全球服务贸易的快速增长以及许多港口向服务部门的发展)”可知,海南独特的服务业有利于海南成为全球贸易中心。故选D。

    Passage 10 (2021·广东高三月考)
In the UK we often equate life experience, especially amongst younger generations, with the number of stamps in your passport. Travel is not simply a pursuit of leisure but also “character-building”, “defining” and potentially, “career-boosting”.
Most of the people I know here at university experience that same itch to get in a plane, train, bus or car and escape the hectic stress of deadlines and seminars that usually surrounds us. But I don’t think, as UK student, we can blame our addiction to international travel simply on a stressful life. Yes, I have a lot to handle and it’s a fine balancing act managing my part-time job, my degree and my social life to a perfect level. But really I think we are the first generation in a truly open world, where we can get anywhere, see anything and experience every culture under the sun, at the click of a button, the purchase of a ticket.
Many people I met while working in China were surprised at the number of countries I’d travelled to, which came as a surprise. Compared to friends and family I consider myself vastly under-travelled. I’ve yet to even set foot across the pond in the U. S. A and Canada. let alone South America and even within Europe, my checklist of destinations is far from complete. But more eye opening for me, I was also met by astonishment at how little geographical traversing I had done within my own borders. This was something I had not really considered before and as I left Beijing I felt an overwhelming appreciation not just for the rich culture of China but also for the diverse localities within the UK. How much of my own country had I really seen and experienced? To those from a place as vast and varied as China, Britain was really so small in comparison and so to have spent 20 years there and not seen every nook and cranny of it was quite surprising.
I spent a while engaged in a convention with a Chinese colleague over the difference in building style, in architecture from the Highlands of Scotland to the Cornish const. Now for most people this sounds dreary and dull, and I guess I am biased as a student of history who finds anything remotely historical fascinating. However it was not the geological variety of stone within British cities I found interesting. We continued our discussion, yet I was left embarrassed that I could not provide a concrete answer to her question. In China, as well as a wealth of new culture that fascinated me, I discovered that there were parts of the UK’s culture, history, the very structure of my identity that were so different, so unique from China that I also gained a new found interest in my own heritage.
In this respect, travelling enables you with two things. Firstly, you develop an overwhelming fascination with new cultures, understanding customs, experiencing cuisines and absorbing the sights and smells of every new city. For many employers this adaptability to new locations is seen as a tremendous asset to your personal resume. But alongside increased employ ability, through international, cross-cultural conversations, you develop an interest in your own history, culture, and customs. You return to your home filled with an understanding of other people’s fascination with it and imbued with your own sense of love for its peculiarities.
38.What information can we get from Paragraph 1 in the UK?
A.The number of stamps shows someone’s life experience.
B.Travel experience is a important criterion in selecting applicants.
C.Travel is regarded as an enriching life experience that will make your C.V. stand out.
D.Travel is simply a way of gaining relaxation.
39.According to the passage, which statement is correct?
A.British university students travel for getting rid of busy life.
B.The author is an experienced traveller who has been to diverse localities and completed her checklist of destinations.
C.It’s not surprising that 20 more years’ living in UK makes the author walk around every part of it.
D.Travelling can enable you to be competent in employ ability.
40.What is the author’s purpose of exampling her conversation with her Chinese colleague?
A.Inadequate travelling experience restricted her sights at work.
B.Her colleague had a prejudice on her for she was a student of history.
C.Not answering the question in detail embarrassed her so much.
D.She got interested in Chinese culture by comparing it with that of UK.
41.Which is the best title for this passage?
    A.Travel, a self-finding tour B.Travel, a home coming tour
    C.Travel, a leisure-pursuing tour D.Travel, a cultural recognition tour
根据第一段内容“In the UK we often equate life experience, especially amongst younger generations, with the number of stamps in your passport. Travel is not simply a pursuit of leisure but also “character-building”, “defining” and potentially, “career-boosting”.”(在英国,我们经常把生活经历,尤其是年轻一代的经历,与护照上的邮票数量等同起来。
根据最后一段关键句“In this respect, travelling enables you with two things. Firstly, you develop an overwhelming fascination with new cultures, understanding customs, experiencing cuisines and absorbing the sights and smells of every new city. For many employers this adaptability to new locations is seen as a tremendous asset to your personal resume.”(首先,你对新的文化、了解风俗、体验美食、吸收每一个新城市的景色和气味产生了巨大的迷恋。
根据第四段关键句“However it was not the geological variety of stone within British cities I found interesting. We continued our discussion, yet I was left embarrassed that I could not provide a concrete answer to her question.”(然而,我发现英国城市中的石头在地质上的多样性并不有趣。 故选A项。
分析文章内容,结合最后一段关键句“But alongside increased employ ability, through international, cross-cultural conversations, you develop an interest in your own history, culture, and customs. You return to your home filled with an understanding of other people’s fascination with it and imbued with your own sense of love for its peculiarities.”(但是,在提高就业能力的同时,通过国际性的、跨文化的对话,你对自己的历史、文化和习俗产生了兴趣。
