    1. a little nervusa little可以用来修饰形容词或副词,表示程度,意为“有一点……”,也可以加形容词或副词比较级,如a little bigger,还能用来修饰比较级的副词有even、much、still、far、a little、a bit、a lt等。
    2. finish readingfinish意为“完成”,后面加名词或动名词。3. sund bad后文中还有sund difficult和becme better,sund和becme都是连系动词,后面要加adj.作它们的表语,构成系表结构。
    4. wrd by wrd意为“逐字地”,by这样的用法还可以用在词组ne by ne中,意思为“ne after anther,一个接一个地”。5. have t 意为“不得不做……”,与must d相似,区别在于must强调主观意愿,have t强调客观情况下“必须做”。
    6. try ttry t d sth. = try ne’s best t d sth.意为“尽力去做……”,区分try t d和try ding,try ding意为“尝试做……”。7. be patientpatient此处为adj.,意为“耐心的”,反义词为impatient;patient还能用作名词,意为“病人”。如: Dctrs shuld be patient with the patients.
    8. It takes time. take此处意为“花费(时间)”完成句型为“It takes sb. 时间段 t d sth.”,意为“做某事花了某人多长时间”,句中的it为形式主语,真正的主语为后面的t d sth.。9. The mre yu read, the faster yu’ll be. 句型为“The+比较级……,the+比较级……”如:The mre exercise yu d, the healthier yu will be.

    Last year, I did nt like my English class. Every class was like a bad dream. The teacher spke s quickly that I did nt understand her mst f the time. I was afraid t ask questins because f my pr prnunciatin. I just hid behind my textbk and never said anything.Then ne day I watched an English mvie called Ty Stry. I fell in lve with this exciting and funny mvie! S I began t watch ther English mvies, t.
    Althugh I culd nt understand everything the characters said, their bdy language and the expressins n their faces helped me t get the meaning. I als realized I culd get the meaning by listening fr just the key wrds. My prnunciatin imprved as well by listening t the cnversatins in English mvies. I discvered that listening t smething interesting is the secret t language learning. I als learned useful sentences like “It’s a piece f cake” r “It serves yu right.”
    I did nt understand these sentences at first. But because I wanted t understand the stry, I lked them up in a dictinary.Nw I really enjy my English class. I want t learn new wrds and mre grammar s that I can have a better understanding f English mvies.

    1. s… that …意为“如此…以至于…”,that后从句主要强调结果,区分s that+句子的用法,意为“以便,为了…”,强调目的。如:He said s fast that I culdn’t catch him. He said slwly s that everyne culd catch him.
    2. I was afraid t ask questins because f my pr prnunciatin. be afraid t d sth. 意为“害怕去做;不敢去做” be afraid f 意为“害怕/担心…”,后接名词、代词或动名词形式。如:Betty is afraid f the dark, s she is afraid t g ut alne at night. 贝蒂怕黑, 所以她晚上不敢单独出去。
    afraid的其他用法(1) be afraid +that从句,意为“恐怕…; 担心…”, 常表示委婉的语气,that可省略。I’m afraid that it will rain tmrrw. 我担心明天会下雨。(2) I’m afraid s. 意为“恐怕如此”,多用于情景对话,对别人的提问作出推测式回答。(3) I’m afraid nt. 意为“恐怕不是”。
    3. an English called Ty Stry在这个词组中called…用来作后置定语修饰前面的名词,也可以改为named…或with the name f…如:a bk named Harry Ptter a by with the name f Tm4. fall in lve with …也可以说成 be in lve with,意为“爱上…;与…相爱”。
    5. begin t d sth.begin与start的意思和用法相同,后面都可以加t d或ding,表示“开始做某事”。6. Althugh…althugh与thugh用法相似,意为“虽然,尽管”,引导让步状语从句,不能与but连用。
    7. as wellas well常用作状语,意为“又;也”,相当于t或als,常位于句末,无须用逗号与句子分开。如:I am ging t Lndn and my sister is ging as well. (=ging, t) I nt nly play the guitar, I sing as well. (=I als sing)
    8. I discvered that listening t smething interesting is the secret t language learning. 这句话为宾语从句,主句I discvered that,剩下的部分为从句。宾语从句中that引导陈述句,可省略。 从句中,ding sth. 作主语,谓语动词用单数。 the secret t sth 意为“……的秘密,秘诀”
    9. useful sentences like “It’s a piece f cake” r “It serves yu right.” 句中like词性为介词,意为“像”,like还能用作动词,意为“喜欢”,后接t d或ding。10. at firstat first意为“首先”,与之对应的词组为at last,可用finally或in the end替换。
    11. lk them up此文中lk up意为“(在词典、参考书中或通过电脑)查阅”,根据语境不同还能解释为“抬头看”。代词作lk up的宾语时,须放在中间,名词作宾语时,放中间和后面都可以。如:lk up the wrd = lk the wrd up lk it/them up
    12. find it difficult t learn English具体句型为 sb. find it+ adj. (fr sb.) + t d sth. 意为“某人发现做某事……”这句为简单句,句中的it为形式宾语,真正的宾语是t d sth.。如: I fund it imprtant fr us t learn English well. 我发现对于我们来说学好英语很重要。

    介词by的用法仔细观察例句, 体会句中介词by的具体含义。1. I practice prnunciatin by reading alud. 2. Let’s sit by the windw. 3. We must get back hme by ten ’clck at night. 4. She learnt English by herself. 5. English is widely used by peple arund the wrld.
    by是介词,后接名词、代词或动名词作宾语,意义较多,归纳如下:(1) by表示方式、方法、手段等,意为“通过/用/靠 …… (而达到某种预期的目的)”, by +ding sth. 意为“通过做某事”在句中作方式状语。如:-- Hw can I turn n the cmputer? -- By pressing this buttn.
    (2) 表示位置移动, 意为“从……经过” Ellen flew t Chicag by way f New Yrk. 艾伦经由纽约飞往芝加哥。(3) 表示位置, 意为“靠近; 在……旁边” The girls are playing by the lake. (4) 表示时间, 意为“在…之前; 到…为止; 不迟于”My mther will cme back by 6:00.
    (5)用在反身代词之前,意为“独自”by neself = alne = n ne’s wnTina culdn’t mve the heavy bx by herself. (6) 表示动作执行者,用于被动语态,意为“被;由”The huse was destryed by fire. (7) 用于某些固定短语中by the way顺便问一下ne by ne一个接一个地step by step一步一步地by accident偶然地
