    Step 1:Revision.

    1 Revise something about Neil. Ask: Do you remember Neil?

        Where is he from? Where does he live?

         Can you say something about Neil’s home?

    2 OK. Ask again: Do you think Neil’s home would look the same as homes in China?

       What’s his home like? He sent Simon a video of his home in the UK.

          Do you want to know more about his home?

    3 Revise the names of the rooms

    ⑴.______  the room for sleeping in

    ⑵.______  the room we have our meals in

    ⑶.______  the room we cook our meals in

    ⑷.______  the room we have a bath in

    ⑸.______  the place for growing flowers

    ⑹.______  the room we meet our friends in

    Step 2: Listen.

    1 Listen to Neil’s instruction in the video and put the pictures in the correct order. Write the numbers 1-6 in the boxes.

    2 Play the tape for the students to listen and repeat. Help Simon label the things in Part A1 with the words in the box.

    3 Say True or False according to the listening:

    ⑴ Neil and his family don’t sit in the kitchen.

    ⑵ There is a garden behind the kitchen.

    ⑶ There is a large table in the dining room.

    ⑷ Neil’s family watches TV in the dining room.

    ⑸ The bathroom is new.

    ⑹ There is a lamp and some posters in Neil’s bedroom.

    4 Get the students to read Part A3 and encourage them to fill in the blanks with the information they know. Of course, they can ask each other.

    5 Say : What do you think of Neil’s home?

    What differences are there between Neil’s home and yours?

    Which do you like better, Neil’s home or your own home?

    Step 3: Presentation.

    1 Neil’s home is cool. Everyone wants to have a home like his. Now Simon is happy and he is calling Daniel. Do you know why?

    2 Play the tape for the students to listen and answer it.

      Simon is happy because he has a new home now. It is very big.

    3 Listen again and answer the questions:

     What is Simon’s new home like?

     What is his new telephone number?

    Step 4: Practice.

    1. May I s____________ to Mr. Green, please.

    2. Who’s that c____________, please?

    3. I’m a___________ he’s not at home.

    4. Can I take a m____________?

    Step 5: Presentation.

    1 Explain: 单词中的重音

     当我们读含有不止一个音节的单词时,我们要重读其中的一个音节。被重读的音节听起来更有力,有时声音更响亮。

    2 Pay attention to:

     重音可以在一个单词的第一个、中间一个或最后一个音节上。

    Step 6: Practice.

    1 Listen and practice Part A.

    2 Listen and underline the stressed syllable of each word.

    Step7 :Homework

    1 Recite Part A3 and Part B on page 14.

    Show Ss some examples and ask them to discuss the usage of ordinal numbers and compare with cardinal numbers

    Cardinal numbers

    We use cardinal numbers almost every day. We use them for lots of different things.

    1.基数词的读法:

    ⑴“几十几”十位和个位之间用“—”。e.g. 32 thirty-two

    ⑵101—999 百位和十位间加“and”.e.g. 928 nine hundred and twenty-eight

    ⑶1000以上的数,从后往前每三位一段,倒数第一个数读thousand,倒数第二个数读million,依次类推。e.g. 8,542,601

    eight million, five hundred and forty-three thousand, six hundred and one

    2 .基数词的运用:

    hundred, thousand, million, billion等一般用单数,但以下情况用复数:

    ⑴表示不定数目:e.g. hundreds of       millions of

     ⑵表示“几十”的数词,其复数形式可以表示年龄或年代。

    3. Ordinal numbers

    We can use ordinal numbers to to order things and events. We use them to talk about dates, floors, results, etc.

    1. 序数词的运用:

    ⑴表示日期:e.g. 6月1日  on the first of June/ on June (the) first

    ⑵表示编号:e.g. lesson 5  the fifth lesson

    ⑶起副词作用,前无“the” e.g. Simon came first in the English exam.

    ⑷序数词前有限定词修饰时,不加“the”. e.g. This is my first lesson.

    2 .I’ll arrive in Beijing on Sunday.

    arrive (vi.)    arrive in(大地点)/at (小地点)= get to = reach

    Have a discussion and find out the differences between  cardinal numbers and ordinal number

    Finish the exercises in the books.

    Homework

    1.  Review the contents of this lesson.
