In my first semester as a teaching assistant, a student came t me with a sensitive request. The prfessr required students t use electrnic clickers t answer multiple-chice questins during the lecture; participatin wuld cunt tward their grade. In my first semester as a teaching assistant, a student came t me with a sensitive request. In 1887, a yung wman, Elizabeth Cchrane, wanted a jb at a large newspaper. The editr agreed, if she wuld investigate a hspital fr mentally sick peple and then write abut it. Elizabeth decided t becme a patient in the hspital. She used the name Nellie Brwn s n ne wuld discver her r her purpse. T prepare, she wre ld clthes and stpped washing. She acted as if she had serius mental illness. She cried and screamed. The plice were called. Mst peple said she was mad. Elizabeth was taken t the mental hspital.
Living in the hspital was terrible. Garbage was left utside the dining rm. Bugs ran acrss the table. The patients ate hard bread and gray-clred meat. And they did nthing but sit quietly during the day. Nurses bathed the patients in cld water and gave them nly a thin piece f clth t wear.
