“But it’s s cld utside, Mther!” Jack said.
“Put n yur cat and yur hat and yur glves,” his mther said. “Yu can build a snwman befre yur father cmes hme.”
Jack said “I need a carrt fr the nse and sme things fr the snwman’s hat and face.” With a bucket, Jack cllected everything needed t decrate his snwman. His mther was watching him build the snwman frm the windw.
Outside, in his yard, Jack started with a small snwball. On his knees, he rlled the snw int a big ball.
At anther windw, his new neighbur Nak was watching Jack play. Nak asked her mther t allw her t d that. Thugh her mther was wrried abut her, Nak was finally allwed t.
In her winter clthes, Nak jyfully ran t Jack and ffered t help him.
Jack was very glad and tld her “My father will be hme frm wrk very sn.”
“Okay. What can I d?” Nak asked.
“I have built my snwman’s bdy with tw snwballs. I need t rll ne mre fr my snwman’s head.”
“But snwmen nly have tw snwballs. One is fr the bdy and ne is fr the head,” Nak said.
“N, snwmen always have three snwballs,” Jack said. “I dn’t think I need yu t help me after all.”
Leaving Nak alne, Jack rlled a third snwball away frm Nak t make his snwman’s head.
Nak walked in disappintment back int her wn yard and began t build her wn snwman. She thught t herself. “I’m ging t make my wn.” Sn Nak finished building her wn in her wn way, with her hat and scarf t decrate it and sticks and pine cnes fr her snwman’s eyes, muth and arms. Her mther clapped frm the windw.
Jack made a hat fr his snwman with his bucket. He used buttns fr the eyes and muth, a carrt fr the snwman’s nse. After finishing, Jack’s mther smiled. His father was driving up the street.

All f a sudden, the head fell ff Jack’s snwman and crashed t the grund! Seeing the unexpected situatin, Jack was frzen with shck. Thinking his father was almst hme, Jack cried at the tp vice “Oh n! My snwman fell apart.” Nak heard Jack’s cry and ran ver t his yard t see what the prblem was. Seeing snwman’s fallen head and Jack’s desperate expressin, Nak silently walked ver and carefully checked Jack’s snwman.
