Sanxingdui Museum. B. Hunan Museum. C. Shanghai Museum. D. National Museum of China. 2、What do these museums in this passage have in common? A. They are all free of charge. B. They all set a deadline for entry. C. They all lie in the south of China. D. They can all be available through e-mail. 3、In which part of a newspaper can you most probably read this passage? A. Sports. B. News. C. advertisement. D. History and Culture. The annual marathon in my town occurred as scheduled. My job was to follow behind the runners in an ambulance in case any of them needed medical attention. As the athletes began to pace themselves, the front runners started to disappear. It was then that my eyes were drawn to the woman in blue running shorts and a baggy white T-shirt. I knew we were already watching our “last runner”. Her feet turned in, yet her left knee was turned out. Her legs were so crippled and bent that it seemed impossible for her to walk, let alone run a marathon. The driver and I watched in silence as she slowly moved forward. We would move forward a little bit, then stop and wait for her to gain some distance. Then we’d slowly move forward a little bit more. As I watched her struggle to put one foot in front of the other, I found myself expecting her and urging her forward. I wanted her to stop, and at the same time, I hoped that she wouldn’t. Finally she was the only runner left in sight. I sat on the edge of my seat and watched with respect and amazement as she pushed forward with strong determination through the last miles. When the finish line came into sight, the cheering crowds had long gone home. Yet she didn’t give up and crossed the line. I don’t know this woman’s name, but that day she became a part of my life — a part I often depend on. For her, it wasn’t about beating the other runners or winning a prize. It was about finishing what she had set out to do. When I think things are too difficult or I get those “I-just-can’t-do-it,” I think of the last runner. Then I realize how easy the task before me really is. 4、What does the underlined word “crippled” in Paragraph 2 mean? A. Perfect. B. Athletic. C. Disabled. D. Slim. 5、Which of the following can best describe the woman? A. Confident and brave. B. Proud and determined. C. Hard-working and responsible. D. Strong-willed and honorable. 6、What has the author learnt from the woman? A. Don’t depend on others when facing difficulties. B. Nothing is too hard to accomplish if one is brave enough. C. Those who have difficulty walking can also run a marathon. D. It’s not winning but holding on to the end that really matters. 7、What could be the best title for the text? A. The Last Runner B. An Injured Stranger C. An Unforgettable Event D. The Annual Marathon Listen carefully. Don’t answer too quickly. At least, don’t say “yes” too soon. A friend might ask, “Want to take a hike?” You should say, “Where?” If he replies “The entire Appalachian Trail (阿巴拉契亚国家步道)”,take warning. Here’s why. The trail is one of the longest marked footpaths in the world. It starts at Springer Mountain, Georgia. It winds (蜿蜒) along the top of the mountains. It goes through 14 states. It ends at Mount Katahdin, Maine. As the crow(乌鸦)flies, this is about 2,200 miles. But when walked, the trail is 2,600 miles. If you walk nonstop, it takes about six months to walk through the trail. Most hikers begin from Springer Mountain. They start around April 1. This is why. The snow has probably melted (融化) in the south. But there may still be snow in the north. By the time they reach Maine, the snow will have been long gone. What’s the chance of making it nonstop? Here is the data. About 1,500 people try it each year. About 300 people make it. It is a great challenge. Careful planning is necessary. There are problems to solve. The biggest one is the weight on one’s back. Too many hikers start out with too much. Wise ones don’t carry food. They send packages to post offices along the way. There are no campfires allowed. Some shelters are near the path. But the trail is crowded. It is hard to find space. A perfect tent is necessary. And it rains a lot. Great rain gear (用具) is needed. It should be light. Benton MacKaye founded the trail. The first section of the trail was opened in 1923. It is cared for by volunteers in each state. Do you plan to go? Read lots of books by people who’ve done it. 8、What is the example of the crow in Paragraph 2 used to show? A. The trail’s view. B. The trail’s height. C. The trail’s danger. D. The trail’s distance. 9、What can we know about the Appalachian Trail? A. Only about one fifth of the hikers succeed in hiking every year. B. Most hikers spend a whole year hiking the trail. C. It goes through 14 mountains in all. D. It is about 2,200 miles long. 10、What does the author advise hikers to do? A. Carry enough water and food. B. Wear heavy and warm clothing. C. Bring enough maps and equipment. D. Send packages along the way ahead of time. 11、What is the best title for the text? A. Advice on hiking B. Dangers of hiking C. Go hiking on the Appalachian Trail D. Introduction of great mountains When it comes to having a healthy body, seeing may be believing. Experiments suggest that people who are shown pictures of their clogged arteries (动脉阻塞) may be more likely to stay healthy than people who do not. Researchers studied just over 3,500 people. These people were between 40 and 60 years of age. Each person had at least one risk for heart disease, but no signs of the disorder. The researchers divided these subjects into two groups. The first group received what was called usual care — like taking medicine or talking with health care workers about heart disease. However, the members of the other group were shown pictures of their arteries. Researchers also gave them special guidance on why those pictures might be a sign of future health problems. One year later, the people who watched the images of their own arteries had less risk for heart disease than those who weren’t shown the pictures. That is where the “pictures” part may help. Doctors warn that many people think they have healthy hearts but, actually, they do not. Clogged arteries can be a silent killer. It takes many years to develop and patients may show no signs until the condition is serious and difficult to treat. Because it is a silent killer, experts say patients only remember a small part of what their doctor tells them to do. Seeing a picture is much more effective. To use a popular English expression, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Smoking, an unhealthy habit, and being short of exercise increase the risk of heart attacks. Exercising for at least 30 minutes every day of the week will help to prevent heart disease. Eating at least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day, and limiting (限制) your salt intake to less than one spoon a day, also helps to prevent heart attacks. 12、What can we learn from the second paragraph? A. Both of the two groups received so-called usual care. B. More than 3,500 people of all ages took part in the study. C. Seeing pictures of possible illness helps people to keep healthy. D. Heart disease is more difficult to treat without medicine. 13、What does the underlined word “effective” probably mean in Paragraph 3? A. Interesting. B. Dangerous. C. Common. D. Helpful. 14、What should we do to prevent heart attacks according to the text? A. Stop or avoid smoking. B. Take as much sugar as salt. C. Exercise once a week. D. Eat as many nuts as possible. 15、Where may the text be taken from? A. A travel guide. B. A novel. C. A science website. D. A personal diary. 16、A Plastic Ocean is a film to make you think. 根据第一段“China is one of the world’s ancient civilizations and has the earliest outstanding bronze casting (青铜冶铸) technology. Here we’ve created a list of 4 museums where you can gain an in-depth understanding of Chinese bronze. 根据文章第二段中的“Her legs were so crippled and bent that it seemed impossible for her to walk, let alone run a marathon.(她的腿又瘸又弯,连走路都不可能,更不用说跑马拉松了。)” 根据文章第二段“I knew we were already watching our “last runner”. Her feet turned in, yet her left knee was turned out. Her legs were so crippled and bent that it seemed impossible for her to walk, let alone run a marathon.(我知道我们已经在看“最后一名选手”了。 以及第四段“Finally she was the only runner left in sight. I sat on the edge of my seat and watched with respect and amazement as she pushed forward with strong determination through the last miles. When the finish line came into sight, the cheering crowds had long gone home. Yet she didn’t give up and crossed the line.(最后,她成了眼前唯一一个奔跑的人。 根据文章最后一段“I don’t know this woman’s name, but that day she became a part of my life — a part I often depend on. For her, it wasn’t about beating the other runners or winning a prize. It was about finishing what she had set out to do. When I think things are too difficult or I get those “I-just-can’t-do-it,” I think of the last runner. Then I realize how easy the task before me really is.(我不知道这个女人的名字,但从那天起,她成了我生活的一部分——我经常依赖的一部分。 由此可知,A项“The Last Runner(最后一位赛跑者)”最能概括全文。故选A项。 根据文章第二段“As the crow flies, this is about 2200 miles.(乌鸦飞行的距离大约有2200英里。)” 根据文章第三段中的“About 1,500 people try it each year. About 300 people make it.(每年有约1500人尝试,只有300人能够成功。)” 根据第三段最后一句话“It should be light.(雨具应该是轻的。)” 根据文章第三段“They send packages to post offices along the way.(聪明的人会把行李寄到沿途的邮局。)” 根据第二段中“One year later, the people who watched the images of their own arteries had less risk for heart disease than those who weren’t shown the pictures. That is where the “pictures” part may help. 根据画线词后文“To use a popular English expression, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”(用一句流行的英语表达就是“一张图片胜过千言万语”)”可知,可见看图片是有帮助的。 根据最后一段中“Smoking, an unhealthy habit, and being short of exercise increase the risk of heart attacks.(吸烟、不健康的习惯以及缺乏锻炼都会增加心脏病发作的风险)”可知,我们应该停止或避免吸烟来预防心脏病发作。故选A。 根据第一段“When it comes to having a healthy body, seeing may be believing. Experiments suggest that people who are shown pictures of their clogged arteries (动脉阻塞) may be more likely to stay healthy than people who do not.(说到拥有一个健康的身体,眼见为实。 ①上文“We’ve been producing plastic in huge quantities. Drinking bottles, shopping bags and even clothes are made with plastic.(我们一直在大量生产塑料。 ②上文“The film begins as a journey to film the largest animal on the planet, the blue whale. The message about our use of plastic is painfully obvious. ⑤上文“Over 300 million tons of plastic are produced every year, and at least 8 million of those are thrown into the oceans. The results are very harmful, but it isn’t too late to change.(每年有超过3亿吨的塑料被生产出来,其中至少有800万吨被倒入海洋,结果是灾难性的,但现在改变还为时不晚)”可知,作者认为现在行动起来保护海洋还为时未晚,E项“一旦你看到这部电影,你就会意识到是时候尽我们的一份力量了”是对上文内容的承接,说明我们需要现在行动起来保护海洋免遭塑料污染。 A. go down延续;B. get up起床;C. take off起飞;D. start out开始。根据下文“It is a memory that we 2 and still talk about from time to time.” 故选A。 A. deserve值得;B. access接近;C. treasure珍惜;D. regain重新获得。根据下文“still talk about from time to time.” A. decorating装修;B. repairing修理;C. removing移走;D. building建造。 A. scared害怕的;B. proud骄傲的;C. fond喜欢的;D. tired疲劳的。根据下文“Instead, she 5 watched as the spider was busy with the cycle of life.” 故选A。 根据上文“she was not 4 of the spider”以及下文“As we both 6 this wonder of nature.” A. noted注意;B. observed观察;C. played玩耍;D. imitated模仿。根据上文“she 5 watched as the spider was busy with the cycle of life.” A. insect昆虫;B. problem问题;C. stick棍棒;D. thought想法。根据下文“However, in contrast, I believe that by sharing this 10 of watching the spider, both of us were just satisfied as if we had done something very 11 .” A. in case of以防万一;B. in honor of纪念;C. in spite of尽管;D. in favor of支持。 A. truth事实;B. advice建议;C. idea想法;D. message信息。根据下文“that my daughter and I were simply having fun. 故选A。 A. risk风险;B. ability能力;C. knowledge知识;D. experience经历。根据上文“From the shallow end of our pool, my daughter noticed that, right about eye level, a spider (蜘蛛) was 3 its web by the pool.” 根据上文“in contrast, I believe that by sharing this 10 of watching the spider”可知,本句与上文构成的是相反的关系。 A. everyday每天的;B. simple简单的;C. expensive昂贵的;D. fortunate幸运的。根据上文“But 8 what amount of time had passed, the 9 was that my daughter and I were simply having fun. How eagerly she wanted to go out to play with her friends! She was against the annoying plan from the bottom of her heart, but she had no choice. First, Kayla was arranged to wash the breakfast dishes. After that, she was asked to give their puppy a bath. She knew it was a hard task, which needed a lot of tiring, careful and patient work. She has began the work with great unwillingness. Paragraph 2: But things began to change as she was doing the chores. Brushing the puppy, she found it was a lot of fun with so many soap bubbles. Then it was on to yard work where Kayla helped to pick up sticks. She pretended the small sticks were basketballs, and shot them into a large trashcan. So the work was done with great pleasure. Kayla felt proud to see how much better the yard looked. When she finished her meaningful chores, Kayla enjoyed relaxing in her tree house. The lemonade tasted wonderful after a hard day of work. 如:play with, be against, have no choice, pick up等高级词汇;How eagerly she wanted to go to out to play with her friends! When she finished her meaningful chores, Kayla enjoyed relaxing in her tree house. 36、答案:quitted/quit 解析:考查动词。 故填quitted/quit。 The film was a great success, attracting huge audiences. The film was a great success, attracting huge audiences. It was then that my father and I realized that her seat was empty. It was then that my father and I realized that her seat was empty。 There are more than 200 students studying Chinese in the school. There are more than 200 students studying Chinese in the school. We all do our best not to disappoint our parents’ expectations. 应用动词短语do our best not to do sth.;表示“家长的”应用名词所有格our parents’;表示“辜负期望”应用动词短语disappoint one’s expectations。 We all do our best not to disappoint our parents’ expectations. We saw the young professor conversing happily with his students. We saw the young professor conversing happily with his students.
