In Georgia, a farmer used his rooster (公鸡) as an alarm clock. Every morning, his old rooster woke him up. Sadly, his old rooster could no longer do its job, because its voice was too weak after many years of waking up the farmer. Soon the farmer often got up late, and decided to buy a new rooster, so that he could get to work on time.

The farmer spent several days looking for the best one. Finally, he found a special new rooster in California.

One Sunday morning, my husband and I went into a store. While paying, I heard the cashier (出纳员) say “How are you today?” as usual. I looked at her and said, “Not bad. And how are you doing?” Then I waited kindly for an answer.
