If you need courage when facing a challenge, learn from Jessica Cox. Born in February, 1983, Jessica shocked her parents when they first saw her. Why? She had no arms.
As Jessica grew up, her mother decided that her daughter had the right to live a normal life. She would just have to learn to do things differently.
Jessica’s doctor taught her foot exercises, so she figured out how to do everything with her feet. Quite independent at an early age, Jessica learned to tie her shoes, get dressed and take a bath. At 3, she could thread a needle and write her name. She also got artificial arms and used them for 11 years. During that period of time, she was often called names like “Robot Girl” and “Captain Hook”, which made her quiet and sad.
But at age 14, she and her family moved to a new city and everything changed. When she was in 8th grade, she decided to accept her difference and removed her artificial arms forever. She says that it is not until we are true to ourselves that we are able to overcome our challenges. Jessica even overcame her greatest fear—flying. And in 2011, she became the world’s first armless pilot. She used her feet to fly a light-sport aircraft up to 3,048 meters.
So learn from Jessica Cox—challenges are opportunities.

句子主语“the memory of her melon work”为单数含义,所以谓语用单数。

A. if如果;B. while虽然;C. as因为;D. unless除非。
A. mixing交往;B. combining联合;C. cooperating合作;D. conflicting争执。根据空后的“socially with American and other international students”可知此处指“与美国学生和其他国际生进行社会交往”,故A项正确。
A. society社会;B. environment环境;C. class班级;D. organization组织。
A. however然而(副词);B. in addition此外;C. as a result结果;D. for instance例如。
A. take pity on同情;B. show respect to对……表示尊重;C. rely on依靠;D. hang out with与……

Are you worried about moving up to Senior High school? It can be a new experience, but you shouldn’t worry. We’ve put together a guide on how to survive the first week.
    You’re not alone!
Remember everybody else in your year is on the same boat. They may not realize it, but they’re just as nervous as you are. Moving to Senior High school is an opportunity, not a problem. Things are different and all you need to do is be polite and learn the new rules.
    Teachers are ready to help!
If you’re unsure what to do or are worried about anything, then you had better ask for help. Teachers are probably the best people to turn to as they’ re experienced in helping new students. Some Senior High schools also have a “friends system”. If your school has this, then you will be paired with an older student. They will look out for you and help you if you have any problems or questions.
    ____________________
There are lots of differences between Junior High school and Senior High school. One of them lies in learning methods. In Junior High School, the learning process can be completed without much difficulty if you have a good memory. While study in Senior High requires both deep comprehension (理解) and memorizing, but the former (前者) is much more important. So that explains why many students can deal with the study in Junior High but can’t adapt to the learning process in Senior High. Besides you will need a homework diary or a student planner to help yourself get organized, or you will not be able to finish different tasks.
    Other points
If you’ve got an elder brother or sister at the school then ask them for advice. Be yourself! It sounds simple, but people will know you much better if you just act naturally.
Having early nights makes a difference and you’ll find it easier to get up in the morning!

A.Other students have similar feelings to yours.
B.Other students have to learn boating with you.
C.Other students will help you solve your problems.
D.Other students will teach you politeness and new rules.
60.The new students turn to teachers first when having problems because___________
A.teachers are more patient than parents B.teachers are good at helping solve problems
C.teachers are nice to every student D.parents are too busy to help them
61.Which subtitle best suits paragraph 3?
    A.Different learning methods B.More homework
    C.More organized D.All change

    C
The new radio programme from Self-help expert Glennon Doyle unexpectedly disturbed me. In a session of We Can Do Hard Things, she focuses on boundaries and their importance to our mental happiness. I heartily agree with her, because saying a polite but firm “no” is one of the basics for a happy life. I was, however, interested when she raised the idea that perhaps, as well as learning when to confirm our boundaries, we also need to stretch them. When does a boundary become a cage that locks us away?
Isn’t it always the case that just as you think you’ve got an area of life nailed; somebody comes along to show you that that’s not the case? As I listened, I started to see boundaries that might cause more problems than they were solving.
There was the work boundary that said that unless a project fell exactly into my topics, I wouldn’t take it-which meant that I turned down work that was otherwise interesting and rewarding.
There was the boundary that said I wasn’t to buy anything until I’d reached my savings goal-which resulted in me having to restart my laptop 20 times a day.
And then there was a boundary around relationships that set out exactly how I should be treated and what I wanted in them. Helpful to some extent, it blocked me from allowing someone to express their love for me, even if it wasn’t quite what I had predicted.
Had I been doing boundaries wrong all the time? Did I need to figure them all out again? I’ve spent the past few weeks looking at the boundaries I’ve secretly put in place, and I’ve let myself lower some that have been my protection over the years. Then I’ve come to the conclusion that, when it comes to boundaries, I’m a beginner again, and that’s fine. In fact, being back at the beginning is a blessing because it means there are still lessons to be learned and adventures to be had and that is something for which I can only be grateful.
63.What has really interested the author in Glennon Doyle’s programme?
A.The importance of confirming our boundaries. B.The benefits of boundaries to our happiness.
C.The urgency of maintaining our boundaries. D.The necessity of reassessing our boundaries.
64.Which statement on boundaries will the author agree with?
A.We should favour savings goals over boundaries.
B.Boundaries tend to keep us from potential friends
C.Boundaries are very likely to relieve boredom at work.
D.We should stick to boundaries despite inconvenience.
65.How did the author feel about boundaries after the?
    A.Relaxed. B.Depressed. C.Pressured. D.Amused.
66.What is probably the best tittle for the passage?
A.Just when you think you’ve got things sorted. B.Just where you believe there’s no way out
C.How can we live a life without boundaries? D.How do we become victims of boundaries?

    Section C(8)
Directions: Read the following passages. Fill in each blank with a proper sentence given in the box. Each sentence can be used only once. Note that there are two more sentences than you need.
    Living off grid
When you need electricity, you just plug in the machine and switch it on. If you need water, you turn on the tap. 67 For many people, these facilities are the basics of civilized society and the idea of living without them seems risky. Yet for a growing number of people, the idea of living off grid — without electricity, water or sewage — is an increasingly attractive lifestyle.
Off-gridders do not have to give up electricity or a modern lifestyle — some choose to, but most use small hydroelectric power systems, solar panels or windmills to generate enough power for their needs. Heating and cooking needs are met by solar energy or wood burning systems, and toilet facilities range from non-water toilets to outside compost toilets. 68 It ranges from traditional yurts (a type of tent) to luxury house with high-speed internet and central heating. Whether they live in simple homes or luxury houses, what they all have in common is that their lifestyles do not create any pollution or carbon emissions — the ultimate goal for off-gridders.
Around 100,000 people are thought to be living off grid in the UK now. 69 They grow their own food, home-school their children and provide their own medical care. They are people who have been priced out of the housing market or who have grown disillusioned with what modern society can offer and who decides that an alternative lifestyle isn’t a pipe dream, but a viable option.
A part from living an alternative lifestyle, cost is a big factor in choosing to live off-grid. Off-grid houses are far cheaper to build than ordinary homes since they don’t need to be connected to the electricity or water supplies and even road access is not necessary. Materials tend to be cheaper, too. Popular options include straw or old tyres and cement.
Surprisingly, the biggest problem off-gridders face is not building their homes or becoming self-sufficient but getting permission to build. Rural areas away from town are the perfect choice but these are often protected by law from construction of any kind or have building restrictions. There are now several websites dedicated to land-sharing so that the costs of buying land and getting permission can be shared, and there are increasing numbers of off-grid communities. 70 Off-gridding could soon be common all over Europe and America.
A.Many are self-sufficient, not just providing their own electricity, water and sewage systems, but in all aspects.
B.After you use the toilet, you flush it and the waste disappears.
C.This shift from individual to group off-gridding reflects the fact that the trend is growing noticeably.
D.They live in a huge variety of types of accommodation.
E.Living off-grid still has a long way to go before it becomes a mainstream way of living.
F.Rather than building permanent homes, vans or mobile homes or even old shipping containers are other options.

    IV. Reading expression(12)
Directions: Read the following passage. Then answer the questions.
    Vision of Hope
Molly Burke was not born blind. She started losing her sight when she was four years old. Doctors said that she had a rare eye disease that would gradually take away her vision. In her first grade, she learned to read Braille (the language used for the blind), although she could still see.
By age 14, Molly was completely blind. What’s worse, a group of girls who were once her friends started bullying her. Eventually, Molly became disappointed and depressed. Her high school years were not easy.
After she finished high school, Molly wanted to do something that would help others. Then she found out about Me to We, an organization that runs international volunteer trips and leadership camps. Molly knew what she wanted to do next - to help inspire people by being a speaker at Me to We.
Molly began speaking at schools all over the USA and Canada about bullying. Her advice? Be strong! During a speech in Toronto, she spoke to about 20,000 people. After her speech, the crowd stood up and clapped. “Molly has a real ability to inspire people and to help others,” her father says.
In 2014, Molly started her own channel on social media, uploading things like makeup video blogs, or vlogs. As of 2019, she has close to two million followers, some of whom don’t even know she’s blind. She tries to be a role model for young people but is realistic about what she can and can’t do. She even makes fun of the challenges she faces as a blind person - like sharing a video that she once bit into a lemon, thinking it was a potato.

A balanced diet is that you should eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and grain products, such as noodles and bread every day.
a balanced diet“均衡的饮食”,在句中作主语;every day“每天”作时间状语放在句尾;should“应该”,接动词原形;plenty of“大量,许多”;fruit“水果”;vegetable“蔬菜”;grain products“谷物”;such as“比如,例如”;noodles“面条”;bread“面包”。故填A balanced diet is that you should eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and grain products, such as noodles and bread every day.

    ______________________________________
Not only does the teacher like the foreign film, but also his student is very interested.

At this moment, my English teacher saw my concerns and encouraged me, promising to help me. So I signed up. During the period before the competition, my teacher used his break time every noon to help me improve my pronunciation. I practiced continuously every day. Finally, I achieved a good score of second place. Since then, I have realized that no matter what difficulties I encounter, as long as I work hard, I will definitely be able to achieve my dream.
