Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa, 46, has invited eight members of

    X company.
The mission, called dear Moon, will take three days to fly to the moon, orbit and th

A bicycle may be seen by most people as just another vehicle(交通工具), but for m any Londoners, cycling is a way of life. According to a UK government survey in 2017, a bout 570,000 bike journeys were made every day in London. In fact, almost half of the v ehicles that pass over London Bridge each day are bikes.
London introduced a public bike-sharing system in 2010. "There can be no doubt th
at our trusty bicycles have changed that way people get around our great city," Johnson
    told The Guardian.
In London, bikes are used for more than just taking short trips to and from the sub way. NO matter where you want to go in the city, riding a bike is usually the quickest a nd easiest choice.
And it's not just shared bikes that the government is encouraging people to ride. In many companies across the UK, the UK government's Cycle to
Work scheme(计划)allows workers to buy a brand new bike without having to pay any
tax(税).This means that it's common to see many people
cycling to and from work, and some employers even provide showers and
lockers in the workplaces for their workers. More importantly, a cycle-friendly boss may l et you off for being late if you ride a bike to work.
Not only is it great for the environment and our body, cycling is also good for the mind. According to National Geographic, "Bike riding can improve people's happiness."
(8)How does the author show the popularity of cycling in London?
    A. By using numbers. B. By giving examples.
    C. By making comparisons. D. By using famous sayings.
(9)What's Johnson's attitude towards the bike-sharing system in London?
    A. Disappointed B. Concerned C. Supportive D. Uninterested
(10)What can workers get from the government under the Cycle to Work scheme?
    A. Free bike-sharing services.
    B. Showers and lockers in workplaces.
    C. Shorter working hours.
    D. Tax-free bikes.
(11)Which of the following can be the best title of the passage?
    A. Cycling, a healthy way of life
    B. How cycling has become popular in London
    C. Why Londoners are encouraged to ride bikes
    D. London's public bike-sharing system

My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's(老年痴呆症)last summer.
Suddenly, it was difficult for me to accept that the roles were now reversed-my mother b ecame my child, and I became her mother. I became impatient, argued with her, once I
even yelled at her. Gradually, I was used to this kind of life. Now I am able to deal with her and the situation better. I have learne-d a lot of life lessons from the experience.
    21 级英语试卷 第 3页 共 8页 21 级英语试卷 第 4页 共 8页
My mother reacts very sensitively to my feelings. That is typical of Alzhei-mer's patie
nts. When I visit her, feeling busy and tense, she reacts immedia
-tely, takes on my mood, and becomes nervous and negative. But when I appear chee
rful and attentive, she is happy. This has taught me to pay more attention to my own fe elings when I am with other people.
I was thought I was very tolerant(容忍的), but in reality, my tolerance ran out as s
oon as someone turned away from what I considered "right". With my mother I can now
really be tolerant. Through her illness she has developed a childlike tactlessness(不得体). Eating out in restaurants, for example, is a bit embarrassing when she shouts at the wait
er that the food is so bad or talks about people at the next table in a loud voice. Of co urse I make sure that my mother doesn't offend(冒犯)anyone, but I've stopped complai ning about others and have become more tolerant.
I have also learned that everything has special value. When my mother got sick, I di dn't want to burden my two daughters with it. They are young and have enough going
on with their education and starting their careers. I felt that it was simply my job as my mother's daughter. The most wonderful
discovery I've made through my mother's disease may be that my children
not only offer to help me when they sense that I'm feeling overwhelmed,
but that they take care of my mother on their own initiative(主动地). They
visit her often, play cards with her, and look at photo albums together with
her. It shows me that it's all worth it.
(12)Which of the following is common behavior of Alzheimer's patients?
    A. Curiosity about everything. B. Sensitivity to other's moods.
    C. Fear of strange people. D. Quick reaction.
(13)The underlined word "overwhelmed" in the last paragraph is closest in meaning to
    ________.
    A. concerned B. scared C. embarrassed D. stressed
(14)We can infer from the passage that ________.
    A. the writer accepted the role change immediately
    B. the writer only paid attention to her mother's feelings
    C. the writer has a great sense of responsibility
    D. the daughters took over the responsibility to look after their grandmother
(15)This passage is mainly about ________.
    A. how I cared for my sick mother
    B. how I became more tolerant
    C. what I have learned from my mother's illness
    D. why I am feeling overwhelmed
