    C.. 评分解读
    总体来看,读后续写以读为辅,以写为主,其目标是考查学生的综合语言运用能力。评分标准是评分的依据和绝对标准。
    依据评分标准,读后续写主要考查阅读理解能力,由读到写的思维能力和语言表达运用能力三个方面。评卷时,评卷老师先根据考生所续写短文的内容和语言初步确定其所属档次,然后以该档次的要求来衡量,确定或调整档次,最后给分。
    阅卷老师在阅卷时,主要考虑以下内容:
    1.与所给短文及段落开头语的衔接程度;
    2.内容的丰富性;
    3.应用语法结构和词汇的丰富性和准确性;
    4.上下文的连贯性。

    Part 4七大黄金原则
    读后续写诗阅读和写作相结合的考查形式,旨在考察学生的综合运用能力。续写思路和以往的高考英语命题作文不同,读后续写要求考生首先要读懂已有信息,不仅要读懂字面含义,还要理清文章的脉络和关系。续写这篇短文时,考生需要明白故事的发展进程、前因后果、地理位置变化、人物情感等。在此基础上,考生顺着文章的思路,根据线索,发挥想象,对其后的情节进行合理预测,并用英语表达出来。
    针对读后续写的题型特点, 我们可以按照以下的方式进行备考:
    1.不增加人物。
    由考纲样题及近5年高考真题中所给的段落首句可知,续写的故事情节发展都是由原文的人物所推进,因此,强行增加人物有可能会偏离情节发展。

    2. 不增加旁支情节。
    题目要求“考生根据所给情节进行续写”,旨在延续原材料的故事情节,并不是要发展新情节。

    3. 不用过多对话。
    在续写中展示对话,虽能丰富内容和语言, 增强语篇的连贯性, 但使用过多的对话,会显得篇幅累赘且很难在限定的词数里把整个后续的情节发展补充完整。

    4. 不用负能量结局。
    结局设计绝对不能负能量。内容应该积极向上, 能增长知识或传播正能量。如样题的结尾, 我们可以有两种设定:这个年轻人就是银行抢劫者,而Arthur因此成为一个大英雄; 或者Arthur误会了这个年轻人是银行抢劫犯,但最终警察们还是表扬了他见义勇为的行为。

    5. 不在文末设置悬念。
    题目要求是“使之构成一篇完整的短文”, 若在文末设置悬念, 就会给人一种还没结束的感觉,这样的故事是不完整的。

    6. 不偏离原文主题。
    续写的情节应时刻围绕着短文的主题去推进,如上面的样题, 由续写第二段首句提到的“警察局”可推测, 我们可以围绕勇气及正义的主题去进行续写。

    7. 不违背逻辑常理。
    情节和细节的想象要合理,符合生活常识及具有逻辑性。

    Part 5能力培养策略
    1. 精读策略
    读后续写,顾名思义,先读后写,所以读懂原文很重要。那么,读原文需要注意以下两点?
    首先,读故事情节,明确故事发展方向。
    读后续写始于阅读,根据评分标准,续写内容需要有完整性,那么,内容要点要全是续写的基本要求。具体的续写要点包括,情节是否连贯和完整,情绪和情感是否到位,主旨表达是否明确等。这就要求学生首先精读原文,把握故事的主要情节,根据两段开头语,进行初步的情节预测。
    其次,读人物个性和情感细节,把握人物特征。
    除了了解情节主线以外,原文中的细节也是非常重要的。其中,原文中人物的刻画能有效地帮助我们把握主要人物的情感和性格特征。学生读懂核心人物在情节发展过程中各种心理或情感的变化,以此推出人物的性格特征。只有准确地把握故事发展脉络和人物的个性特征,才能确保后续故事发展方向的准确性,以确保续写内容和原文有高度的融洽度。

    2. 构思策略
    构思续写环节主要从以下两个方面来构思:
    根据文章后面的要求,再次快速回读短文,抓住文章的思路。结合段首的提示语,最终确定续写段落的思路,同时结合文章划线词语提示,确定续写段落的内容。
    紧扣段落开头语提示信息。读后续写重在内容,考生所构思的内容是否合情合理,是否前后连贯直接关系到得分的高低。所以在读懂全文情节和人物性格的基础上,还需要读懂两段落的开头语。通常开头语把续写内容限定在一定的范围内,规定了续写的情节发展走向。考生不可天马行空,肆意发挥。
    合理拓展情节。拓展情节包括故事的主要情节设计,与段落开头语和原文的衔接程度,段落中句子与句子的前后逻辑和衔接以及情绪或情感细节的融洽程度等等。学生在构思情节时,这些要素都要充分考虑到。不然很容易写“走题”。

    3. 习作策略
    读后续写时一个复杂的语言学习,模仿和运用的积极构建过程。因此,必须要努力在续写中延续作者的语言表达特色。在形成初稿后,有必要对原文进行毁读,进一步感知作者对语言特色,并对初稿进行精雕细琢。行文习作时需要注意以下几点:
    扩大阅读量。 续写短文多以个人故事,人物介绍, 短片小说, 童话,剧本等为主,在平时多训练中 学生应该大量读相关原著或者文章,培养语感的同时, 可以积累相关素材,以供平时训练时放写,从而达到在考试时根据内容创造性的构思,达到创写的目的。在考试时,也可以吧原文的关键表达画出来,续写时,可以临时仿写相关句子,以达到和原文的行文一致。
    保持与原文的行文风格。因为词汇和句式需要和原文高度一致,学生在平时的训练中有必要进行针对性的训练。仿写原文句式或者词汇是很有必要的。在考试中,原文的关键反应人物性格特点的词汇和句式都要习惯地画出来,在续写时需要写到相关人物的时候可以模仿写作。这样写出来的文章可以有效地和原文相一致。
    拟写草稿,修改错词病句。仔细检查词汇,句式表达,是否有拼写错误,搭配错误或者表达不够准确。读后续写要求学生掌握一定的精准表达词汇和句式,那么,在平时的训练中, 学生需要把相关表达进行分类记忆,词汇或者短语在什么场合才能使用,都需要了解清楚。这样在写作文的时候,可以准确地了解不同的场景下,苏选用的词汇也是不一样的。学生在注重词汇和句式的高端的同时,还需要仔细检查,所使用的语言是否有误。切不可违了追求高级,而忽略了使用场景。
    重视书写。写作不是客观题,它是老师主管评判分数的题型。所以书写很重要。如果一篇文章字迹潦草,书写不规范,那么一定会给阅卷老师留下不好的印象,第一感觉不好的话, 语言句式再高级,老师也不一定能第一眼看见。这样不仅得不到高分, 连最基本的分数都不一定得到。所以学生在平时进行书写训练时很有必要的。

    Part 6写作流程:读→编→造
    第1步:读出原故事的六要素 (相当于抓住原故事的主题和重点)
    操作步骤:
    (1)边读边想象场景,在大脑中构造画面、拍电影。
    (2)边读边用中文把主要情节写下来。(可以避免反复看原文而浪费时间)
    (3)主要情节即“记叙文六要素”:人物、时间、地点、起因 、经过、结果
    (谁在什么时间、什么地方,因为什么、做了什么、最终怎样。)

    第二步:编依据原文中的六要素,用中文编新故事
    原则:时间/地点/人物不变,起因/经过/结果顺承)
    操作步骤:
    (1)编情节:根据两段的首句,猜测故事发展的脉络。(可用正负法,结局一定是正向的,符合社会主义价值观;如果有标题,最后一定要点题)
    (2)编细节:为续写的两个自然段各想4-5句话(用中文记下4-5个要点。)

    第三步:造
    (1)初稿勾勒+润色提升+正规誊写
    (2)翻译 & 造句

    Part 7续写得分技巧:
    1. 内容上鼓励大胆想象,有创新意识(不离奇,重逻辑),情节丰富,尽可能合理展开,并注意前后文呼应,与原文融洽度高。
    2. 写作尽可能传递正能量.要提炼有思想性、体现价值观和传递正能量的元素(例如珍爱生命,学会合作,学会感恩等)
    3. 记叙文语言表达流畅,避免低级语法错误,注意连接词的正确使用,使上下文连贯;注意句子结构的多样性和语言的丰富性。
    4. 检查,誊写---检查文章的连贯性、逻辑性,规范性。最后誊写要做到字迹工整,清晰美观。

    Part 9历年高考真题
    1. 2022.6新高考1卷(身残志坚的男孩)
It was the day of the big cross-country run. Students from seven different primary schools in and around the small town were warming up and walking the route(路线)through thick evergreen forest.
I looked around and finally spotted David, who was standing by himself off to the side by a fence. He was small for ten years old. His usual big toothy smile was absent today. I walked over and asked him why he wasn’t with the other children. He hesitated and then said he had decided not to run.
What was wrong? He had worked so hard for this event!
I quickly searched the crowd for the school’s coach and asked him what had happened. “I was afraid that kids from other schools would laugh at him,” he explained uncomfortably. “I gave him the choice to run or not, and let him decide.”
I bit back my frustration(懊恼). I knew the coach meant well—he thought he was doing the right thing. After making sure that David could run if he wanted, I turned to find him coming towards me, his small body rocking from side to side as he swung his feet forward.
David had a brain disease which prevented him from walking or running like other children, but at school his classmates thought of him as a regular kid. He always participated to the best of his ability in whatever they were doing. That was why none of the children thought it unusual that David had decided to join the cross-country team. It just took him longer—that’s all. David had not missed a single practice, and although he always finished his run long after the other children, he did always finish. As a special education teacher at the school, I was familiar with the challenges David faced and was proud of his strong determination.

    【参考答案】
We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn’t look at me. I said gently and quietly, “No one can change your mind, except yourself. If you desire to challenge yourself, there is nothing to do with others’ thoughts.” He sat still with a deep breath. “You have a full preparation before this event, which is the most important reason why you show up here”, I added with a sincere tone. Hearing my words, David turned to me tremblingly with tears spilling out of his eyes and expressed he had made a firm determination to finish the cross-country run. His coach heard what David said and gave me a look—the kind that was more determined than anyone else’s.
I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. The race started. It seemed that the runway was extremely long for young children, not to mention a child with a heart disease. David insisted on running as if he had forgotten all his weaknesses, though he was tripped over within the a few kilometers. It didn’t take long before he picked himself up again and continued his mission. Classmates all appeared on the racing track, cheering for him. “Come on! You can make it! We are proud of you!” they shouted enthusiastically. To everyone’s joy, he reached the final line and ranked the 20th. It was no more important whether he won the first place or not. It was his brave heart and strong faith that could make something unusual happen finally.

I need to do something in my community(社区)in order to complete the community service hours required to graduate from high school. Some of my friends had signed up to spend time at a soup kitchen, so I did, too. It seemed like a good thing to do.
I thought that we would just be passing our dinners to those in need, but I found out we would be doing everything from preparing to serving the dinner. We began preparing the food, from mixing salad dressing to separating frozen meat. Much still needed to be done before dinner was served, but already outside the building many homeless people were gathering. It wasn’t until a couple of hours later that we opened the doors and began serving dinner.
As the line of people came toward me, I got a little scared. I’d come face to face with the homeless: How should I act? How would they treat me? Would they hate me for having more than they did? While some of the people looked very friendly, some of them looked so dangerous, I didn’t have too much time to worry about it. I was assigned (分配)to serve the salad with the lady next to me. She smiled at me and said if I needed help, she’d be right there, which I found quite comforting.
I had never seen so many people wanting food. They were of all ages and nationalities. Most of them wore clothes that were torn and dirty. Some looked like they had totally given up on life, while others seemed to be making the best of the situation, smiling and joking. Some were better off than others, but they all needed a good meal and a warm place to eat. It saddened me to think of how many people there were who didn’t have a place to call home and the only food they got came from a soup kitchen.

    Paragraph 1:
As they came in my direction, I put on my brightest and happiest smile.
    Paragraph 2:
I was so happy that I had earned my service hours in this way.

    【参考答案】
As they came in my direction, I put on my brightest and happiest smile. Nervous as I felt, I did my utmost to keep myself calm and hand out the delicately-wrapped meal to those in need, with my hands trembling. Upon seeing it, every one of them beamed with smile, gently murmured “Thank you” and bowed to me sincerely, which brought warmth straight into my heart. The passing time witnessed the smooth process of this event. It was not until the night wiped out the last ray of sun that we finished our community service hours.
I was so happy that I had earned my service hours in this way. Not only did I clear my previous prejudice against those who seemed to be dangerous and unamiable, but also I extended a helping hand to those who wanted food. I suddenly came to realize that not everyone was blessed with fortune and born to be wealthy, therefore, we should always keep grateful for what life blessed us with. However, we did have the power to share our happiness with others, that is, spreading love. Love is everything, like the clear moon hanging high in the sky, spreading its mild moonlight selflessly to everyone.

    3. 2022.1浙江卷(傲娇学霸)
When Dr. Gullickson was assigning project mates for his introduction to experimental psychology class, I secretly hoped he would pair me with my best friend or at least a classmate I could have some fun with. Above all, I hoped he wouldn't assign me to work with the intense, fiercely competitive, singularly serious fellow who always wore dark clothes and apparently had a personality to match. As fate would have it, Dr. Gullickson very deliberately matched everyone in class and announced that I be working with the one person in class I wanted to avoid.I went up to my new lab mate and introduced myself. He looked at me as though I weren't there. I felt he treated me as though I would hold him back and probably cause his grade-point average to take a nosedive. He wasn't outright mean or abusive. He just gave me the impression he could do whatever project we dreamed up better if he did it alone.Needless to say, I didn't look forward to an entire term of being brushed off, but I tried to make the best of it and didn’t say anything, lest I make things worse. The project required each lab team to develop a hypothesis, set up an experiment to test the hypothesis, run the tests,do the statistical analysis and present the findings. Whatever grade the team received would be shared by both students. When my teammate and I met to discuss our project, I was uneasy. Here was this challenging student who had a reputation for single-mindedness and good grades the exact opposite of me. I was outmatched. I actually wanted to drop the class at one point, but stopped short because I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of my chickening out. After lengthy discussions,we somehow agreed to do a study on the tactile-kinesthetic perception of space. I wasn’t sure what it meant, but at least we had a topic.

Paragraph 1:  We started to meet regularly to draw up our plans.

Paragraph 2:  One day I got word that he was admitted to hospital for a serious disease.

    优秀范文1
We started to meet regularly to draw up our plans. As we discussed hypotheses, designed tests and found tools to collect and analyze our data, I found this guy both agile and sharp-minded. I, by contrast, was always slow in understanding the concepts and functions he raised. However, he seemed to have adapted to my nerdiness and took on more tasks, which should have fallen in my range of responsibility. Gradually, my impression of him started to reverse and I even fondly hoped we could become friends after the project.
One day, I got the word that he was admitted to hospital for a serious disease. As it turned out, my teammate was born to suffer a frail heart and the demanding project invited his relapse. Now that the formidable project was falling on my shoulder, I stayed up innumerable nights to run tests and analyze statistics. My effort eventually paid off as Dr. Gullickson awarded us an A, to which my partner grinned in satisfaction. It was then that I realized not only did my tenacity and perseverance live up to his expectation, but also won the ‘impossible’ friendship from this demanding guy / this previously inaccessible guy.

2We started to meet regularly to draw up our plans. At first, we only discussed the project. But slowly, we shifted our subject to daily life stories and studies. To my surprise, he was talkative when mentioning studies. Serious as he was, he showed enough patience to explain his hypothesis. As time progressed, I was attracted by his single-mindedness and intelligence.More importantly, busying himself testing the hypothesis, he always forgot the meal time. That inspired me a lot. Unwilling to fall behind, I tried my best to help with the experiment.

One day I got word that he was admitted to hospital for a serious disease. His going to stay in hospital for three months urged me to visit him immediately. In the hospital, his pale face reminded me of his competitive personality.Determination to gift him an excellent grade was made . Back in the lab, I recalled his words and continued the project day and night. Two months’ effort was eventually replaced by a grade A. As I shared him with the good news, he beamed with satisfaction. “Actually, I believed in you whatever the result would be!” Receiving his approval, I grinned.

Paragraph 1    We started to meet regularly to draw up our plans. Companion as I was in the project , I still had no sense of participating in the project. My teammate kept his brain occupied in developing the hypothesis, setting up an experiment to test it, and running the tests alone , leaving me just standing beside him as if I were a fool. “What a dull project it is! ”I murmured to myself. However, something changed gradually, as I became aware what the tactile-kinesthetic perception of space meant. Thanks to the intense, fiercely competitive, singularly serious fellow, the whole procedure went smoothly , close to the final stage.

Paragraph 2   One day I got word that he was admitted to hospital for a serious disease. Without any delay, I packed up my school bag , took all the experiment statistics and rushed to the hospital. Seeing the pale fellow wearing pure white clothes instead of the annoying dark clothes , I felt a sense of sympathy and mercy welling up in my heart. 5. 2021年6月浙江卷(“我”的工资)
My dad, George, only had an eighth grade education. A quiet man, he didn't understand my world of school activities. From age 14, he worked. And his dad, Albert, took the money my dad earned and used it to pay family expenses.
I didn't really understand his world either: He was a livestock trucker, and l thought that I would surpass(超过) anything he had accomplished by the time l walked across the stage at high school graduation.
Summers in the mid, 70s were spent at home shooting baskets, hitting a baseball, or throwing a football, preparing for my future as a quarterback on a football team. In poor weather, I read about sports or practiced my trombone(长号).
The summer before my eighth grade I was one of a group of boys that a neighboring farmer hired to work in his field. He explained our basic task, the tractor fired up and we were off, riding down the field looking for weeds to spray with chemicals. After a short way, the farmer stopped and painted at a weed which we missed. Then we began again. This happened over and over, but we soon learned to identify different grasses like cockleburs, lamb's-quarters, foxtails, and the king of weeds, the pretty purple thistle. It was tiring work, but I looked forward to the pay, even though I wasn't sure how much it would amount to.
At home, my dad said, "A job's a big step to growing up. I'm glad you will be contributing to the household." My dad's words made me realize that my earning might not be mine to do with as wished.
My labors lasted about two weeks, and the farmer said there might be more work, but I wasn't interested. I decided it was not fair that l had to contribute my money.

    Paragraph 1
The pay day arrived at last.

    Paragraph 2
I understood immediately what my parents were worried about.

    Paragraph 1:
The pay day arrived at last. I was glad that I finally got the payment after working hard for two weeks. While walking back home with an excited mind. I conceived many plans about how to dispose of it. I needed a new football because the old one we played had already worn out. I intended to purchase my favorite chocolates. Upon approaching the house, I noticed my dad and mom standing beside the old truck, looking sadly. It seemed as if something unpleasant happened. “How much do we still need to pay for a new truck?". asked my mother. Three hundred dollars, but we just had two hundred left.”

    Paragraph 2:
I understood immediately what my parents were worried about. Really, the truck my dad drove often broke down on the way, which made my dad in trouble. My parents had intended to buy a new truck but couldn't afford it. Suddenly, I realized what I should do. Stepping forward, I said, “Dad, here is what I received for my work. I think it would help you a little.” A little surprised at what I said, my mom hugged me tightly. That night, before I went to bed, l thought I would tell the farmer the next day that I would continue my work, after all l grew up.

    阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
During this past year, I’ve had three instances of car trouble. Each time these things happened, I was sick of the way most people hadn’t bothered to help. One of those times, I was on the side of the road for close to three hours with my big Jeep. I put signs in the windows, big signs that said NEED A JACK (千斤顶), and offered money. Nothing. Right as I was about to give up, a Mexican family in a small truck pulled over, and the father bounded out.
He sized up the situation and called for his daughter, who spoke English. He conveyed through her that he had a jack but that it was too small for the Jeep, so we would need something to support it. Then he got a saw (锯子) from the truck and cut a section out of a big log on the side of the road. We rolled it over and put his jack on top, and we were in business.
I started taking the wheel off, and then, if you can believe it, I broke his tire iron. No worries: He handed it to his wife, and she was gone in a flash down the road to buy a new tire iron. She was back in 15 minutes. We finished the job, and I was a very happy man.
The two of us were dirty and sweaty. His wife prepared a pot of water for us to wash our hands. I tried to put a $20 bill in the man’s hand, but he wouldn’t take it, so instead I went up to the truck and gave it to his wife as quietly as I could. I asked the little girl where they lived. Mexico, she said. They were in Oregon so Mommy and Daddy could work on a fruit farm for the next few weeks. Then they would go home.

    ________________________________________________________________________
    Paragraph 2
After they left, I got into my Jeep and opened the paper bag.
    ________________________________________________________________________
    ________________________________________________________________________
    Possible version 1:
    Paragraph 1:
When I was about to say goodbye, the girl asked if I’d had lunch. I shook my head and said no, wondering why she asked such a question — was she going to treat me to lunch or something? “Wait a minute,” said the girl, and then she went back to the truck. After a few minutes she came back with a paper bag. “Here are some Mexican snacks and you can have some when you are hungry,” the girl smiled. I was so surprised and touched that words almost failed me. I just said a “WOW!” instead of a “Thank you!” when I took the bag.
    Paragraph2:
After they left, I got into my Jeep and opened the paper bag. When I saw what was in the bag, I was overcome with a mixture of respect and gratefulness. In addition to the snacks, there was the $20 bill. What a kind and respectable family! They are a perfect example of what kindness really means. And I’m sure I will pay it forward. (145)

    Possible version 2:
    Paragraph 1:
When I was about to say goodbye, the girl asked if I’d had lunch. Of course not, for I had been trapped there for quite a few hours. She then had a word with her parents and went back to their truck. A few minutes later she came back with a paper bag. “That’s Mommy’s hand-made taco,” explained the girl. “It’s so yummy that you must love it.” I was starving to death after all that exhausting work so I took the Mexico-originated food, grateful and deeply moved. Then we waved goodbye to each other.
    Paragraph 2:
After they left, I got into my Jeep and opened the paper bag. Inside the bag was a chicken taco. The next few minutes saw my wolfing down the delicious food. Tears welled up as I was chewing. It was awesome to know that while many people tend to ignore those in need, there are some kind-hearted ones who go out of their way to lend a hand. The good deed the foreign family did will never escape me. I am going to pass it down to create a much friendlier world. (163)

    7. 2021年1月浙江卷(尴尬的万圣节)
    阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Pumpkin (南瓜)carving at Halloween is a family tradition. We visit a local farm every October. In the pumpkin field, I compete with my three brothers and sister to seek out the biggest pumpkin. My dad has a rule that we have to carry our pumpkins back home, and as the eldest child I have an advantage — I carried an 85-pounder back last year.
This year, it was hard to tell whether my prize or the one chosen by my 14-year-old brother, Jason, was the winner. Unfortunately we forgot to weigh them before taking out their insides, but I was determined to prove my point. All of us were hard at work at the kitchen table, with my mom filming the annual event. I’m unsure now why I thought forcing my head inside the pumpkin would settle the matter, but it seemed to make perfect sense at the time.
With the pumpkin resting on the table, hole uppermost, I bent over and pressed my head against the opening. At first I got jammed just above my eyes and then, as I went on with my task, unwilling to quit, my nose briefly prevented entry. Finally I managed to put my whole head into it, like a cork (软木塞) forced into a bottle. I was able to straighten up with the huge pumpkin resting on my shoulders.
My excitement was short-lived. The pumpkin was heavy. “I’m going to set it down, now,” I said, and with Jason helping to support its weight, I bent back over the table to give it somewhere to rest. It was only when I tried to remove my head that I realized getting out was going to be less straightforward than getting in. When I pulled hard, my nose got in the way. I got into a panic as I pressed firmly against the table and moved my head around trying to find the right angle, but it was no use. “I can’t get it out!” I shouted, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in the enclosed space.

    Paragraph 1
I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much longer. Growing more panic, I began to cry. Fortunately, hearing me crying, dad came and helped me lay my head on the table, so my neck could rest for a while. Then he said to me “Listen, honey. I have to cut this pumpkin in half. ” I had no choice but to keep still with my eyes tightly closed and listening to the knife moving on the pumpkin. Moments later, my head was finally released from this horrible pumpkin cage. Then mom told me she had just filmed me managing to pull my head out of the pumpkin.
    Paragraph 2
That video was posted the day before Halloween. Actually my mom had asked whether she could post it on the Internet, because after all I was so embarrassed and looked so silly in it. Anyway, I nodded and supported her idea. It turned out that people liked and forwarded it crazily on the Internet, only to make me an Internet celebrity. (续写152词)

The Meredith family lived in a small community. As the economy was in decline, some people in the town had lost their jobs. Many of their families were struggling to make ends meet. People were trying to help each other meet the challenges.
Mrs. Meredith was a most kind and thoughtful woman. She spent a great deal of time visiting the poor. She knew they had problems, and they needed all kinds of help. When she had time, she would bring food and medicine to them.
One morning she told her children about a family she had visited the day before. There was a man sick in bed, his wife, who took care of him and could not go out to work, and their little boy. The little boy — his name was Bernard — had interested her very much.
“I wish you could see him,” she said to her own children, John, Harry, and Clara. “He is such a help to his mother. He wants very much to earn some money, but I don’t see what he can do.”
After their mother left the room, the children sat thinking about Bernard. “I wish we could help him to earn money,” said Clara. “His family is suffering so much.”
“So do I,” said Harry. “We really should do something to assist them.”
For some moments, John said nothing, but, suddenly, he sprang to his feet and cried, “I have a great idea! I have a solution that we can all help accomplish (完成) .”
The other children also jumped up all attention. When John had an idea, it was sure to be a good one. “I tell you what we can do,” said John. “You know that big box of corn Uncle John sent us? Well, we can make popcorn (爆米花), and put it into paper bags, and Bernard can take it around to the houses and sell it.”

    Paragraph 2
With everything ready, Bernard started out on his new business.

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________
    One possible version:
When Mrs. Meredith heard of the idea, she thought it was a good one, too. Then Mrs. Meredith searched the internet and ordered a household popcorn machine. After that, Mrs. Meredith, together with her three children, paid another visit to the family and told them about the popcorn plan. Needless to say, they were deeply moved, especially Bernard who finally found a way to make money for his family. A few days later, the machine was delivered to Mrs. Meredith’s doorstep. And it wasn’t long before they got the hang of using the machine to make popcorn.
With everything ready, Bernard started out on his new business. Although it was a hard time and things were tight for everybody, Bernard’s business worked out quite well. He carried the popcorn on his small bike, going from door to door to sell it. People were surprised to see such a little, poorly-dressed boy selling popcorn at their doors, but eventually almost all of them would buy a bag or two. It is love that makes the world go round and Bernard felt it deep in his little heart. (续写词数:164)

    阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
One fall, my wife Elli and I had a single goal: to photograph polar bears. We were staying at a research camp outside “ the polar bear capital of the world ” — the town of Churchill in Manitoba, Canada.
Taking pictures of polar bears is amazing but also dangerous. Polar bears — like all wild animals — should be photographed from a safe distance. When I’m face to face with a polar bear, I like it to be through a camera with a telephoto lens. But sometimes, that is easier said than done. This was one of those times.
As Elli and I cooked dinner, a young male polar bear who was playing in a nearby lake sniffed, and smelled our garlic bread.
The hungry bear followed his nose to our camp, which was surrounded by a high wire fence. He pulled and bit the wire. He stood on his back legs and pushed at the wooden fence posts.
Terrified, Elli and I tried all the bear defense actions we knew. We yelled at the bear, hit pots hard, and fired blank shotgun shells into the air. Sometimes loud noises like these will scare bears off. Not this polar bear though — he just kept trying to tear down the fence with his massive paws (爪子).
I radioed the camp manager for help. He told me a helicopter was on its way, but it would be 30 minutes before it arrived. Making the best of this close encounter (相遇), I took some pictures of the bear.
Elli and I feared the fence wouldn’t last through 30 more minutes of the bear’s punishment. The camp manager suggested I use pepper spray. The spray burns the bears’ eyes, but doesn’t hurt them. So I approached our uninvited guest slowly and, through the fence, sprayed him in the face. With an angry roar (吼叫), the bear ran to the lake to wash his eyes.

A few minutes later, the bear headed back to our camp. Then we realized that the spray had only angered him even more, for he seemed much fiercer this time and violently pushed the fence like mad. My heart raced wildly, not knowing what to do. At this critical moment, Elli grabbed several pieces of garlic bread and threw them over the fence. It worked! The bear stopped the attack and ran to the bread. But it wasn’t long before he ate up all the bread and came back again.
    Para 2:
At that very moment, the helicopter arrived. “Thank goodness we are saved!” Elli cried out. Once the helicopter landed, we got onto it in no time, excited and relieved. When we were safe on the helicopter up in the air, I was amazed to spot that the bear had finally torn down the fence and ran towards the food we left behind. I quickly took out the camera and photographed the rare scene — we were robbed by a polar bear! (续写词数:153)

    阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
“I’m going to miss you so much, Poppy,” said the tall, thin teenager. He bent down to hug his old friend goodbye. He stood up, hugged his parents, and smiled, trying not to let his emotions (情绪) get the better of him.
His parents were not quite able to keep theirs under control. They had driven their son several hours out of town to the university where he would soon be living and studying. It was time to say goodbye for now at least. The family hugged and smiled through misty eyes and then laughed.
The boy lifted the last bag onto his shoulder, and flashed a bright smile. “I guess this is it.” he said. “I’ll see you back home in a month, okay?” His parents nodded, and they watched as he walked out of sight into the crowds of hundreds of students and parents. The boy’s mother turned to the dog, “Okay, Poppy, time to go back home.”
The house seemed quiet as a tomb without the boy living there. All that week, Poppy didn’t seem interested in her dinner, her favorite toy, or even in her daily walk. Her owners were sad too, but they knew their son would be back to visit, Poppy didn’t.
They offered the dog some of her favorite peanut butter treats. They even let her sit on the sofa, but the old girl just wasn’t her usual cheerful self. Her owners started to get worried, “What should we do to cheer Poppy up?” asked Dad. “We’ve tried everything.”
“I have an idea, but it might be a little crazy,” smiled Mom. “Without anybody left in the house but us, this place could use a bit of fun. Let’s get a little dog for Poppy.”
It didn’t take long before they walked through the front door carrying a big box. Poppy
welcomed them home as usual, but when she saw the box, she stopped. She put her nose on
it. Her tail began wagging (摆动) ever so slowly, then faster as she caught the smell.

Dad opened the box and a sweet little dog appeared. Poppy jumped with joy at the sight of the little dog. She lowered her head to watch it curiously. Then she became so excited that she accidentally knocked over the box in an attempt to get closer. With the box tipping over, out came the little one, who was not shy and instantly got familiar with Poppy. It didn’t take long before the two played around the house, cheerfully running after each other.
A few weeks later, the boy arrived home from the university. He had been missing his parents and the dog since it was the first time that he had been away from home for such a long time. When the boy caught sight of Poppy, he went rushing toward the dog and bent down to give her a big hug. Suddenly, the boy noticed the little dog. “Oh my god, who is this?” His parents laughed at the look of surprise on his face. “It’s Poppy’s new companion.” said Mom.

    Possible Version:
Dad opened the box and a sweet little dog appeared. Dad put the box on the ground and opened the top. A shiny little wet nose popped up. Then two fluffy paws. Next the box tipped over sideways, and out tumbled a mass of wiggly golden silliness. Poppy was amazed. She wagged furiously. She barked with joy. She smiled, her tongue lolling out as she investigated the surprise. The little pup was not shy and immediately starting yipping and jumping around the older dog. "That didn't take long, "remarked Mom, as both dogs went roaring around the house in an impromptu game of chase. Dad laughed.
A few weeks later, the boy arrived home from university. He had missed Poppy and was looking forward to seeing her. When he bent down to give her a big hug, he fell over in surprise as a small golden cloud came racing up to lick his face too. "Oh my gosh, who is this? " he exclaimed. His parents laughed at the look of shock on his face. "That's Pee-wee, "said Dad. "I can't believe you got yourselves a puppy!"  "We didn't, " replied Mom. "This puppy is for Poppy!"

It was summer, and my dad wanted to treat me to a vacation like never before. He decided to take me on a trip to the Wild West.
We took a plane to Albuquerque, a big city in the state of New Mexico. We reached Albuquerque in the late afternoon. Uncle Paul, my dad’s friend, picked us up from the airport and drove us up to his farm in Pecos.
His wife Tina cooked us a delicious dinner and we got to know his sons Ryan and Kyle. My dad and I spent the night in the guestroom of the farm house listening to the frogs and water rolling down the river nearby. Very early in the morning. Uncle Paul woke us up to have breakfast. “The day starts at dawn on my farm,” he said. After breakfast, I went to help Aunt Tina feed the chickens, while my dad went with Uncle Paul to take the sheep out to graze (吃草). I was impressed to see my dad and Uncle Paul riding horses. They looked really cool.
In the afternoon, I asked Uncle Paul if I could take a horse ride, and he said yes, as long as my dad went with me. I wasn’t going to take a horse ride by myself anyway. So, my dad and I put on our new cowboy hats, got on our horses, and headed slowly towards the mountains. “Don’t be late for supper,” Uncle Paul cried, “and keep to the track so that you don’t get lost!” “OK!” my dad cried back. After a while Uncle Paul and his farm house were out of sight. It was so peaceful and quiet and the colors of the brown rocks, the deep green pine trees, and the late afternoon sun mixed to create a magic scene. It looked like a beautiful woven (编织的) blanket spread out upon the ground just for us.

    Paragraph 1:
Suddenly a little rabbit jumped out in front of my horse. Dad and I found it was so cute that we decided to chase it. After a while, we were completely lost in the forest. There was nothing left in our sight but the trees. “We may not be able to make it back to the farm house in time for supper.” I thought to myself. After a series of fruitless attempts to find a way out, we felt hungry and tired.
    Paragraph 2:
We had no idea where we were and it was getting dark. We got stuck in the forest. And an unexpected shower added to the difficulty of us in finding a way home, for all the tracks we had made disappeared because of the rain. I was almost on the edge of breaking down when my father said, “Don’t worry, my son. I remember there is a river near the farm house. Find the river and we will be back home.” Finally, we found the river and got back to the house along it. Needless to say, we ate a late dinner.

    12. 2017年11月浙江卷(妈妈的旅行)
    A vacation with my mother
I had an interesting childhood: It was filled with surprises and amusements, all because of my mother — loving, sweet, yet absent-minded and forgetful. One strange family trip we took when I was eleven tells a lot about her.
My two sets of grandparents lived in Colorado and North Dakota, and my parents decided to spend a few weeks driving to those states and seeing all the sights along the way. As the first day of our trip approached, David, my eight-year-old brother, and I unwillingly said good-bye to all of our friends. Who knew if we’d ever see them again? Finally, the moment of our departure arrived, and we loaded suitcases, books, games, camping equipment, and a tent into the car and bravely drove off. We bravely drove off again two hours later after we’d returned home to get the purse and traveler’s checks Mom had forgotten.
David and I were always a little nervous when using gas station bathrooms if Mom was driving while Dad slept: “You stand outside the door and play lookout (放哨) while I go, and I’ll stand outside the door and play lookout while you go.” I had terrible pictures in my mind: “Honey, where are the kids?” “What?! Oh, Gosh… I thought they were being awfully quiet.” We were never actually left behind in a strange city, but we weren’t about to take any chances.
On the fourth or fifth night, we had trouble finding a hotel with a vacancy. After driving in vain for some time, Mom suddenly got a great idea: Why didn’t we find a house with a likely-looking backyard and ask if we could set up tent there? David and I became nervous. To our great relief, Dad turned down the idea. Mom never could understand our objections. If a strange family showed up on her front doorstep, Mom would have been delighted. She thinks everyone in the world is as nice as she is. We finally found a vacancy in the next town.

    Paragraph 1:
The next day we remembered the brand-new tent we had brought with us. But then we were half an hour away from the hotel, where the tent was left behind. If Mom hadn’t been that absent-minded, it would have saved us the trouble of going back again and again.
    Paragraph 2:
We drove through several states and saw lots of great sights along the way. One day, towards evening, we found a great camping site at the foot of a high mountain. David and I helped Dad put up the tent, and Mom was busy preparing supper. When the setting sun cast an orange light over the mountains, the tent was set up and the meal was ready. We had no trouble setting up our tent, but we were disappointed to find that Mom forgot to pack up pillows. Needless to say, we all woke up with a sore neck the next morning.

    13. 2017年6月浙江卷(骑行遇狼)
On a bright, warm July afternoon, Mac Hollan, a primary school teacher, was cycling from his home to Alaska with his friends. One of his friends had stopped to make a bicycle repair, but they had encouraged Mac to carry on, and they would catch up with him soon. As Mac pedaled (骑行) along alone, he thought fondly of his wife and two young daughters at home. He hoped to show them this beautiful place someday.
Then Mac heard quick and loud breathing behind him. “Man, that’s a big dog!” he thought. But when he looked to the side, he saw instantly that it wasn’t a dog at all, but a wolf, quickly catching up with him.
Mac’s heart jumped. He found out his can of bear spray. With one hand on the bars, he fired the spray at the wolf. A bright red cloud enveloped the animal, and to Mac’s relief, it fell back, shaking its head. But a minute later, it was by his side again. Then it attacked the back of Mac’s bike, tearing open his tent bag. He fired at the wolf a second time, and again, it fell back only to quickly restart the chase (追赶).
Mac was pedaling hard now. He waved and yelled at passing cars but was careful not to slow down. He saw a steep uphill climb before him. He knew that once he hit the hill, he’d be easy caught up and the wolf’s teeth would be tearing into his flesh.
At this moment, Paul and Becky were driving their car on their way to Alaska. They didn’t think much of it when they saw two cyclists repairing their bike on the side of the road. A bit later, they spotted what they, too, assumed was a dog running alongside a man on a bike. As they got closer, they realized that the dog was a wolf. Mac heard a large vehicle behind him. He pulled in front of it as the wolf was catching up fast, just a dozen yards away now.

    Paragraph 1:
The car abruptly stopped in front of him. Mac jumped off his bicycle and rushed to the door of the car. But before Mac could open the door, the wolf had caught up and jumped to attack. Luckily, the magic spray saved Mac a third time. Seeing the wolf back off, Paul quickly unlocked the door, and the frightened man climbed into the car in no time, shutting the door behind him heavily. Becky looked out of the back window and saw the wolf standing over Mac’s bicycle as if it were a kill. Soon after, the animal ran off.
    Paragraph 2:
A few minutes later, the other two cyclists arrived. Mac got out of the car and hugged his friends. “It was really a nightmare and I thought I was going to die,” said Mac in a shaky voice, tears gathering in his eyes. For him, life could never be more beautiful. After saying goodbye to Paul and Becky with gratitude, the three men continued their trip, agreeing never to separate again.

    Paragraph 1:
The car abruptly stopped in front of him. Mac crashed into the car with a loud bang. As a result, he fell off the bicycle and had his left ankle twisted. Hardly had Mac stood up when the wolf arrived and was about to launch another attack. Mac was going to die when suddenly the wolf was hit right on the head by a piece of rock. The wolf fell back, howling with pain. It was Paul who did this. Becky helped Mac climb into the car, while Paul kept shouting and throwing stones at the wolf.
    Paragraph 2:
A few minutes later, the other two cyclists arrived. They were shocked at what they saw and joined Paul. One of Mac’s friends picked out some raw meat and threw it to the wolf. Satisfied with what he got, the wolf ran into the woods. Mac thanked Paul and Becky, “How grateful I am that you stopped to save me and I owe it to you that I’m still alive.” As Mac got injured, the three men had to give up the rest of their journey and returned home.

Unfortunately, on the way an unpleasant subject came up and they started to quarrel. By the time they reached the lake, Jane was so angry that she said to Tom. “I'm going to find a better spot for us to camp" and walked away.
With no path to follow,Jane just walked on for quite a long time. After she had climbed to a high place. she turned around, hoping to see the lake. To her surprise, she saw nothing but forest and, far beyond, a snowcapped mountain top. She suddenly realized that she was lost.
    “Tom! "she cried. "Help!"
No reply. If only she had not left her mobile phone in that bag with Tom. Jane kept moving, but the farther she walked, the more confused she became. As night was beginning to fall, Jane was so tired that she had to stop for the night. Lying awake in the dark, Jane wanted very much to be with Tom and her family. She wanted to hold him and tell him how much she loved him.
Jane rose at the break of day, hungry and thirsty. She could hear water trickling (滴落)somewhere at a distance. Quickly she followed the sound to a stream. To her great joy,she also saw some berry bushes. She drank and ate a few berries. Never in her life had she tasted anything better. Feeling stronger now. Jane began to walk along the stream and hope it would lead her to the lake.
As she picked her way carefully along the stream, Jane heard a helicopter. Is that for me? Unfortunately, the trees made it impossible for people to see her from above. A few minutes later, another helicopter flew overhead. Jane took off her yellow blouse, thinking that she should go to an open area and flag them if they came back again.

But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again. Immediately, an absolute darkness ruled the forest. Jane, exhausted and scared, lay down near a stone, missing her family at a distance. All the fantastic memory crowded in and she couldn't help crying, "Hadn't I quarreled with Tom, walked away and climbed to the high place, I wouldn't be trapped in this awful place, confronted with the danger of dying." She regretted with endless anxiety, and then became asleep with shining tears in her eyes.
It was daybreak when Jane woke up. Weak as she was, she struggled to her feet, continuing searching for assistance. To her great joy, a helicopter was flying overhead again and again. Eager and excited, she flagged her yellow blouse and spared no effort to yell so as to attract others' attention. Fortunately, she was eventually noticed and brought into the helicopter. There, she saw her husband, a man staring at her, wearing an expression of relief. As tightly as possible, she hugged him and was too thrilled to say anything. Besides, they agreed never to quarrel again, determining to live the life to the fullest.
在 "Eager and excited, she flagged her yellow blouse…" 一句中,直接将情绪形容词放在句首,使用了非谓语动词的语法,表达精练。
此外, "There, she saw her husband, a man staring at her, wearing an expression of relief." 一句中,使用了几个短句,却包含了两处非谓语动词语法,同时活用了 "wear" 一词,把两个人相见时的场景生动地描绘了出来。

“I’m afraid so. I’m in a big hurry and I can’t start mycar.”
“Is there something I cando to help?” Arthur asked. The young man looked at the two suitcasesin the back seat and then said, “Thanks. If you’re sure it wouldn’t betoo much trouble, you could help me get these suitcases into a taxi.”
“No trouble at all. I’d beglad to help.”
The young man got out andtook one of the suitcases from the back seat. After placing it on the ground,he turned to get the other one. Just as Arthur picked up the first suitcase andstarted walking, he heard the long loud noise of an alarm.
It was from the bank. There had been a robbery (抢劫)!
Park Avenue had been quieta moment before. Now the air was filled with the sound of the alarm and theshouts of people running from all directions. Cars stopped and thepassengers joined the crowd in front of the bank. People asked each other,“What happened?” But everyone had a different answer.
Arthur, still carrying thesuitcase, turned to look at the bank and walked right into the young woman infront of him.
She looked at the suitcaseand then at him. Arthur was surprised. “Why is she looking at me like that?” Hethought. “The suitcase! She thinks I’m the bank thief!”
Arthur looked around atthe crowd of people. He became frightened, and without another thought, hestarted to run.
