    2023届新高考英语高频考点专项练习:专题十五 考点26 概要写作(A卷)

    1. 阅读下面短文根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

Technology is forever changing the way we get our news. Many people now get a lot of news on electronic devices, instead of traditional media, such as newspapers, television or radio. According to a report, an increasing number of people are also turning to social media for information.

Now, there is a new technology that could greatly change the way we get news: computer-created news readers. Recently, China launched what it called the world's first artificial intelligence, or AI news presenters.

The news readers, supported by machine learning technology, are based on two real-life Chinese newsmen. One is able to present newscasts in English, and the other, in Mandarin. Chinese reports said machine learning was used to examine video images and sounds of the two newsmen. The similar technology has been used to create video products, known as "deepfake" videos. A deepfake video looks real, but is electronically changed. Such videos can make people appear to say things they have never said before.

It was said that the AI presenters would be a great improvement to the news team because they "can work 24 hours a day" on its website and on social media. One of the presenters even promised to work "tirelessly" to keep people informed. Some machine learning experts said the system showed China's latest progress in voice recognition, text-to-speech technology and data analysis.

Others wondered about the effects robots might have on employment and workers. Some people argued that only low-level jobs requiring heavy labor would be easily replaced by robots. Others praised the technology as a way for companies to make money from low-cost labor machines. Some businesses have experimented with similar technology for possible use in news operations.

Britain's BBC recently released a video that used machine learning to make it look like one of its news readers speaking different languages. The London-based company that developed the system said its goal is to "remove the language barrier" for many different kinds of video across the Internet.

Recently, Children should eat their meals and snacks at home during the outbreak of the covid-19 (新冠病毒), which means not only adding a new stress (压力) for parents (e.g., a lot more cooking!), but also providing a new chance for parents to teach children cooking skills.

Helping children develop an interest in cooking when they're young can help them have the valuable life skill that they can carry into adulthood. Allowing children to help in the kitchen encourages them to learn where food comes from, and teaches them about nutrition and food safety (e.g., the importance of washing fresh produce with clean water, or hand-washing before and after helping in the kitchen). Doing so may also help children overcome picky eating by becoming more accepting of new foods. What's more, cooking and baking can be fun ways to spend time while bonding with family.

The key is finding tasks that suit children's age and ability, while still guiding and monitoring their progress. Activities that may attract a preschooler's interest in cooking include helping to wash fruits and vegetables and add toppings to a pizza. Older children can be given tasks such as measuring ingredients into cups or beating eggs. Proper cooking skills to introduce to the children aged between 8 and 10 include planning a family meal or following a simple recipe (食谱). By ages 10 to 12, once able to follow kitchen safety rules, many children can prepare more recipes, including meatballs, cookies and cupcakes.

Getting children to take part in kitchen activities may require patience as they learn. That's why it's helpful to have some extra time at home.

    3. 阅读下面短文根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

Every summer, hundreds of thousands of students travel to other countries looking for work and adventure. Most of the opportunities are in seasonal work, mainly connected with tourism and agriculture. The pay is usually poor, but most people work abroad for the thrill(兴奋) of travel. You can pick grapes in France, work on a family campsite(野营地), entertain kids at American summer camps, and of course, there are always jobs in hotels and restaurants.

But it is not as easy as it used to be to find work. "Unless you speak the language of the country well, there will be very few openings(缺口)," says Anthea Ellis, an adviser on vacation work for students. "If you work as a nanny with a family in Italy, then of course you'll have to speak Italian. When you wash dishes in a restaurant in Paris, the owner will expect you to speak French."

Not everyone enjoys the experience. Sarah James was an assistant responsible for a summer camp group of forty American children in Europe. One child lost his passport; another became seriously ill and was flown home; four children were lost in Madrid for a whole day; the whole group was thrown out of one hotel because of the noise they made. "I did visit a lot of new places," she says. "But it wasn't worth it. The pay was awful and it was really a 24-hour-a-day job. The kids never slept!"

"The trouble is that the students expect to have an easy time of it," Anthea Ellis points out. "After all, they see it as a holiday. In practice, though, you have to work hard. At the same time, all vacation work is casual work. You'll have a job when the hotel, the restaurant, or the campsite is busy and you have few employment rights. As soon as the holiday season finishes, they'll get rid of you. If you don't work hard, or if your employer doesn't like you, you'll get fired."

    4. 阅读下面短文根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

Paperless office was first coined in 1975. Four decades later, we're still chasing the paperless office dream. Take the financial industry for example—it is one of the slowest industries to hug digital transformation. The Centric Digital office is a paperless work environment where all the office operations go digital, which has amazed our business partners.

Actually companies need to stress the benefits of a digital culture for communications. Going paperless can save time and money. You could say goodbye to costly repairs, office supply orders, wasted employee time and so on. Besides, forbidding paper in the office forces information to be 100% digital, where you can make endless amounts of backups(备份). Not to mention, top talents want to work for digital companies.

You might think the secret to a paperless company is purely technology. Well, not really. Thanks to products like smartphones and cloud services, the ability to go paperless is highly accessible. Yet, even with all this technology, companies continue to rely on paper. It's not because they don't have access to the technology, but because they're lacking the politics, organizational structure and strong desire to change. In order to go paperless, companies need to change the way they think and operate. The decision needs to be made and cried out and everyone needs to work together to make it.

Yes, the paperless office has been a very long time in the making but it no longer has to be. With numerous amounts of software, services, apps and technology available today, the only thing we need to do is to make the decision to go paperless and see it through.

With more cellphone companies designing models for children, many parents are attracted to buy their kids phones, and pay the bill. According to a July 2012 study, 56% of parents of children aged 8 to 12 have given their children a cellphone. According to a recent YouthBeat survey, 12 is the magic number. It is the most common age for kids to get their first cellphone. But 13% of children aged 6 to 10 already have one. That's more than one out of every 10 kids.

Cellphone supporters, including many parents, note that cellphones help kids keep in touch with their friends and families, whether to ask for a ride home from football practice or to call for help when stuck in an emergency(紧急情况). Besides, some cellphones designed for kids can be controlled with settings that allow the phone to only be used in parent-permission ways. What's the harm in that?

However, other people are worried about the effects of cellphones on kids' health and safety. They believe that sending text messages or fielding phone calls while doing homework makes it difficult for kids to stay focused, thus resulting in their poor school work. They also say that kids are spending too much time texting instead of talking to each other. "Our brains evolved(进化) to communicate face to face," says Gary Small, a professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, in California. "A lot of this is lost with texting."

And some experts are also concerned about possible health risks. They worry that radiation(辐射) released by cellphones could be harmful to young people. To be safe, they advise limiting talk time.

Choosing the right college can be a difficult task. There are thousands of colleges and universities for you to choose from and many are worthy of being considered. For each potential college, find out the success rate of students' getting their jobs, especially those related to your majors. Here are some strategies(策略) for you to make the right choice.

Colleges which offer practice in some of the fields are worthy of your attention. It can provide you with a large amount of information on job-hunting. Companies often prefer employees that perform well. Practice gives you the valuable experience and necessary opportunities. Some practical skills that you learn will really prepare yourself for certain jobs. Besides, choosing a college that has teacher members with good reputations in their fields can also be very useful since these teacher members can provide you with steps towards the working world by practice.

School rankings and a national reputation for academic success are often important factors(因素) for your potential employers. This type of information can be found easily on the Internet and in magazines. To the employers, graduates from colleges ranking high are often considered more reliable. They usually have a stronger ability to learn and are more likely to create wealth for the company. Sometimes it can even be a more important factor in looking for a job than the actual quality of education the college provides.

After narrowing down your choices to a few colleges, it's time to visit them. Taking a look at the campus(校园) can change your attitude to a particular school. Plan your tour and then do some research on your own. It is also important to talk to as many students as you can and find out if earning a degree from the school is helpful in getting a job. Meanwhile, you can speak to the students in the majors you're considering to know what the courses are like, what you'll learn, and what your expected outcome will be.

    7. 阅读下面短文根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

While the electric vehicle is over a century old in concept, the modern electric car is far from it, because the technology is still in development. Sure, there are a few models on the market that you can buy today, and some have been around for more than a few years.

Unlike internal combustion(内燃) engines, which have gone beyond electrics because of deficient battery technology at the time, there is a long way to go concerning electric vehicle development. Electric engines are now smaller, more compact, and more efficient than existing and even theoretical internal combustion units, while the batteries are getting better and better.

We agree that a vehicle that brings no tailpipe emissions is good for the environment. The problem today is that people do not like waiting, and it takes much time to charge an electric car, not to mention planning trips. People really want electric cars today, and they want them to be at least as great as conventional vehicles. To be fair, these requirements are entirely reasonable from someone that is asked to pay installments(分期付款) for a few years for an asset that might have a sharp decrease in value. In other words, unless automakers are willing to devote themselves to updating the existing electric vehicles they have sold, within reasonable limits—evidently, the electric vehicles on the market today will be out of fashion in less than ten years.

The resale value of such an automobile could become a significant burden for those that own them, if anyone will want to buy a 10-year-old electric vehicle. Considering the rapid advancement of electric car technology, we decided to look away from the bright side of things and think about the worst parts of this technology.

    8. 阅读下面短文根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

Fences can spell disaster for wildlife that needs to move around seasonally or for their basic needs. Mule deer can get their legs caught as they try to jump over fencing and can die there. One study looked at pronghorn(叉角羚) in the northern bush in Montana, Alberta, and Saskatchewan—where the study area contained enough fences to wrap around the planet eight times—and found, not surprisingly, that pronghorn chose paths that crossed less fencing. That means there is actually less habitat(栖息地) available to them than it might seem just from the vastness of the landscape.

No matter where you are in the western U.S., says Xu Wenjing, a graduate student at the University of California Berkeley, on average you are likely less than two miles from a fence. "From a human viewpoint, fences are for managing land and farm animals, and they are barely visible from afar," says Xu. "For animals that need to move around, however, every 'invisible' fence line could be an actual barrier that they have to figure out how to overcome."

Xu is part of a new field of research known as fence ecology, which has sprung up to help researchers understand the impacts of all these fences and how to reduce them. Until recently there has been very little such research. Because it's usually not possible to see fences in satellite imagery, they are often overlooked in conservation planning.

But the good thing is that people have started to do something about it. Absaroka Fence Initiative (AFI) has been organizing fence-removal events over the past year. It has drawn numerous volunteers, who have removed miles of fencing in groups. For volunteers, this kind of work produces instant satisfaction, a sense that you are having a direct impact on the land and animals. "There's a growing recognition of how important these open working lands are," says Abby Scott, a volunteer.

    答案以及解析

    1.答案:

Technology has been updating our source of information. Now, one technology, so-called AI news reader, has become a hit. This new invention is based on two great Chinese newsmen, broadcasting both in English and Chinese. One advantage of the technology is that it can work non-stop. Many companies, including BBC, are trying to produce better learning machines.

    2.答案:

It's meaningful for parents to get their children involved in the kitchen activities when trapped at home. Firstly, parents can arouse their interest in cooking at an early age, which is beneficial to children. Secondly, they should give the children some suitable tasks depending on their age and ability. Finally, parents should be patient when children are learning to cook.

    3.答案:

Many students seek vacation work abroad every summer for the excitement of traveling while working. However, the language is a barrier when you seek jobs overseas. Meanwhile, some students don't think it worthwhile, like Sarah, who was very disappointed at her experience because of tiring heavy work and low pay. Worse still, vacation work is informal and temporary, meaning that you can be easily out of work.

    4.答案:

We're still in pursuit of the paperless office dream forty years after its first invention. To reach the goal, companies should stress the benefits of going paperless in economy, efficiency and attracting talented staff. They should also be determined to change their policies and operation. Therefore, it won't be long before we achieve the goal if we make up our minds.

    5.答案:

Many parents tend to buy cell phones for their kids. Supporters think phones, with security settings, are a good tool for kids to contact others, especially in an emergency. However, others argue being attached to phones may harm both kids' school work and their real communication skills. Therefore, worried about potential health risks, some experts advise the youth to reduce their time on the phone.

    6.答案:

Challenging as it is to choose an ideal college, there're some tips that may help. First, colleges that provide practice and have distinguished teachers in certain fields are worth considering.  Second, it's advisable to search for academic rankings and reputations, which your future employers may care about.  After you have candidates, visit them and enquire more of related students.

    7.答案:

The technology of electric vehicles, which has been in existence for over 100 years, still has a long way to go. People are now in need of electric cars because they are good for the environment. However, they hope they can be as convenient as conventional vehicles and the charging time of electric cars can be reduced greatly. Therefore, automakers must make efforts to update the technology.

    8.答案:

Fences not only cause habitat loss for some animals, but also harm or even kill them. For humans, fences function as tools for land and livestock management, but for animals, they are just objects that prevent them from moving forward.  However, fence ecology research hasn't been conducted widely, because the effect of fences on the environment is usually ignored. Luckily, AFI has recruited volunteers to help clear fences recently.
