The Terracotta Army is not just China’s premier historical attraction but one of the greatest discoveries of the 20th century, which was constructed by China’s First Emperor Qin Shi Huang of the Qin Dynasty (221 BC-207 BC). Tips on How to Use Body Language in Interviews
When was the last time you went to an interview? How did it go? There are lots of things to remember and prepare. However, one important thing to think about is your body language as it can really help you get the job. With a good understanding of body language in interviews, you can communicate the right messages, and even understand what the interviewer is saying or thinking. Here are some really useful things you need to know about body language in interviews.
    Greetings
When greeting the interviewer, smile, look him in the eye and introduce yourself in a strong and confident voice. Also, remember that in most English-speaking countries (the UK, the USA, Australia, Canada, etc.), a firm handshake is seen as a sign of trust; and a limp handshake could make you appear weak or disinterested. Experts recommend waiting for the interviewer to extend his hand first.
    Palms (手掌)
When possible, keep your palms facing up to show that you’re open, trustworthy and interested. Research has shown that if we can’t see the other person’s open palms, we subconsciously become suspicious of them.
    Mirroring
Mirroring involves copying what someone does with their body. For example, if the interviewer places a hand on their leg, you should do the same, but not too obviously. Experts have shown that mirroring someone can make him like you, or even think that you’re more honest and trustworthy. However, be careful—if the other person knows about this technique, he might notice you doing it.
    Sitting position
When sitting, if you lean back, you could appear lazy or arrogant; and if you lean forward too much, you might appear aggressive. The ideal posture is to sit with your back straight and your shoulders back a bit, leaning in very slightly. Sit with your legs slightly apart to give the impression of self-confidence and try to angle your knees and feet so they’re pointing towards the interviewer.
    43. A good understanding of body language can help you ______.
    A. succeed in getting the job
    B. express the correct messages
    C. know more about the interviewer
    D. perform better than other interviewees
    44. When being interviewed, you should ______.
    A. extend your hand first
    B. sit with your legs apart
    C. keep your palms facing down
    D. copy what the interviewer does
    45. Which column of a magazine is the article probably from?
    A. Adventure. B. Entertainment. C. Life. D. Profile.

    Eleven Mile State Park
Eleven Mile State Park is about 40 miles west of Colorado Springs. The highlight here is a huge reservoir(水库) and nearby wetlands that are a huge draw to boaters, fishers, paddlers, and windsurfers. While you can’t go swimming, you can go sailing or kayaking. Even in winter, Eleven Mile is big for fishing. It hosts an annual, statewide ice fishing tournament.

They appear from the earth at a shocking 60-degree angle that makes you wonder how they don’t fall down. With dramatic geological masterpieces, it is no surprise that this is one of Colorado’s official National Natural Landmarks.

(2022·北京石景山·一模)Paragliding is a kind of flying, but instead of the wing being made of metal, wood or plastic, it is made of nylon or polyester. The wing is attached to a harness by lines where a pilot sits, similar to a parachute.
    Is it safe?
Paragliding, is as safe as sailing and deep-sea diving. The big advantage is that it’s probably the slowest form of aviation, so if you do crash, you'll hit the ground quite gently! It’s a very relaxing sport as you're mostly sitting down. Yet, you’ll probably experience pain in some muscles you didn’t know you had while learning, but many of those will be due to the walk up the training hill to launch.
    Where do I learn?
There are lots of schools, mainly based inland by appropriate hills or mountains, and there are also schools on the coast near spectacular cliffs. These are very attractive, though the prospect of landing in the sea seems to discourage beginners! It takes seven days to get your basic license; then you’re free to fly independently at sites across the country.
    What do I need?
Pilots normally wear warm clothes in case they get very high up, and a helmet in case they stumble on landing. In terms of gear, schools supply basic training, canopies, harnesses, etc. However, you'll probably want to buy your own more sophisticated equipment, which you’ll be able to choose much better once you’ve tried some out on your course.
    Who can do it?
There’s no upper age limit provided your instructor judges you capable, but the youngest is 14. Anybody with good eyesight and good balance is a potential paraglider pilot.
Flying a paraglider is a great sport. We hope to see you in the air with us this season!
    82. Which would be the best heading for Paragraph 1?
    A. What is paragliding? B. Who invented paragliding?
    C. How is paragliding special? D. Why is paragliding popular?
    83. According to the passage, paragliding is____________ .
    A. exciting but tiring B. safe and relaxing
    C. attractive but expensive D. fast and challenging
    84. What can we know from the passage?
    A. Fit people of any age can take up paragliding.
    B. Most paragliding schools are situated by the sea.
    C. Pilots need to buy basic equipment on their training course.
    D. Learners can fly on their own after at least a week’s training.

    The Big Debate
Are road tests necessary for teen drivers?
Some say new drivers should be able to get a license without taking a road test.
    What you need to know
    ● The minimum age to get a driver’s license in most states is 16. Teens must complete a driver’s education course, pass a written test, and take a road test.
    ● Since the pandemic, Wisconsin has waived (放弃) road tests for drivers ages 16 and 17. The state is considering making this change permanent. Iowa and Nebraska have similar waivers.
    ● Studies show that teens ages 16-19 are at the highest risk of any age group to be in a motor vehicle crash.
Yes - of course teen drivers need a test Even after taking a driving course and practicing for hours, teens do not have enough real-world experience to start driving on their own. It’s important to test a teen’s knowledge of the rules of the road—and not just with a written test. Plus, a road test ensures that every driver who passes has a certain level of knowledge. Nothing can substitute for a road test.
No - it’s not necessary for safe driving After 50 hours of supervised driving plus a driver’s education course, teens are more than prepared to get a license. And think of the time that will be saved. It lets busy motor vehicle departments complete work that piled up during the pandemic. Experts agree that practice is the best way to reduce car accidents. Skipping the road test and letting teens drive earlier gives them time to get better.
What do you think? What do you think? Are road tests necessary for teen drivers? Now that you’ve read more of the issue, have a parent or guardian visit the week junior.com/polls with you so you can vote in our debate. Vote YES if you think road tests are necessary for teen drivers or NO if you don’t. We’ll publish the results next week.
    88. What is a must in getting a driver’s license in most states?A. Being older than 19. B. Having driving experience.
    C. Passing required tests. D. Completing all school courses.
    89. Why do some people support skipping teens’ road test?
    A. It gets teens prepared. B. It reduces car accidents.
    C. It saves time and effort. D. It promotes driving education.
    90. Who are supposed to vote?
    A. Teens. B. Parents. C. Drivers. D. Experts.
